2023 mid-season rookie draft

We can't possilby look at Teal. We have Banks and Brown in the wings for the same role.

Small forward, ruck, key forward or onballer.

The guys in my top 60 who didn't get drafted were Sam Gilbey, Mitch Szybkowski, Ethan Philips & Archie Lovelock. Of that group I think Gilbey & Szybkowski probably the best bets, the former had a wretched run with injury, the latter very stiff not get a shot. Now I believe Szybkowski trained with Essendon, I'd be sending in some moles to find out how that went. Gilbey is a former AIS player, his skill-set AFL quality. Do we need another back flank? Probably not so there's that to consider. Joshua Browne from the 2021 draft progressing ok, very blue collar but a worker, better than Ross? Dunno, probably similar types. Rucks? That maybe an area we could look at.

Where did you have Kobe Ryan in your list? Looks to be doing pretty well in the SANFL. Also Ethan Philips as a potential keyback?

I think Lovelock is playing seniors for Glenelg ,l don't know how he's going though.
I see Beau Tedcastle played a game in the Geelong comp .
Tow bower was amongst the best for the chargers,he is quite a quick player, hopefully gets a VFL game soon, so we see how he goes against men.

Late-rookie for Ryan but his progression has been impressive, I would definitely have him in the frame, DE is elite, production only average but that is to be expected for a teenager. One to consider.

The big knock on Phillips is athleticism but not always a deal breaker, his intercept numbers in the VFL similar to a player like McGovern, the only question is whether that reading of the play can be transported to an AFL environment. I think for a rookie pick he's worth a punt.

Maybe a question on his athleticism, but Garrett McDonough is easily our best VFL player (and one of the best in the league).

His long accurate and elite kicking (and ability to find the ball) might be very handy for our backline/midfield ATM, where we are having terrible trouble bringing it out of.

26 y.o, but we could do worse ILO.

17 kicks, 12 handballs, 7 inside 50's and 2 goals 2 on the weekend.

There was 2 Ryans playing in the SA champs side,l can't remember who the other one was,but they both performed quite well

13 disposals at 65% efficiency, hasn't hit the scoreboard yet but probably need a larger sample size to make any judgement.

He is ready to go if he can handle the pace of the AFL,he has a lot of attributes going for him .
I guess for Hartley it will be do we go for a short term mature player,or try and get a possible long term younger player.

Another back flanker. Who was delisted by Essendon. And is 26.

We are now doing reverse Dodo's.

Tarrant is going to be under some serious scrutiny these next few weeks.

Night be time to tap him on the shoulder.

By the time he makes it on to the field if he does Tylar will probably be the best Key defender at the club.
