2021 Draft Thread

I thought the same,l thought we had no hope of getting him.
I

Sounds like Gibcus has a good work ethic as well

In another season hit by COVID-19 interruptions, following last year's strikeout in Victoria, Gibcus has worked hard to maintain his edge. He was assigned a running coach who worked with him on his technique and also hit the gym for extra sessions to ensure when he was back on the field he had made the most of his break.

I don't think the hawks will trade 23, they will take Sonsie there. They might trade the other to drop a few spots and gain an upgrade elsewhere. They have Pick 52 which will likely to come in to around 3 spots as GWS and Saints will lose their picks in the 40's with bids. We should get someone decent around that 49 pick, Fejo, Rankin, Curtis, Dean, Soligo, maybe even someone like Murley slides.
Youde actually be nuts not to take 2 picks in the 20s for one pick in the 20s.

Which reminds me, that youde be nuts to offer it up.

I think it certain that one of our collective preferences falls through, possibly 2.

Then theres Ronny

I loved his interveiw. Cant put my finger on it, but seemed like a ripper kid who may end up best mates with Kmac.

Provided we make 3 more selections, I think we might only go the 1 x mid, then a small/mid fwd and another KP player

Im hoping the Tiges give him ago forward early on,,he seems to have all the attributes to be a very good forward.

Did anyone want a 184 halfback flanker in the first round?

EZ, you fool;

1. his 186
2. catches the ball like Brett Deledio, and
3. His psych test revealed hes the most likely kid in the pool to have his house burnt down by a Geelong supporter.

your reflex negatory *smile* will haunt you, you *smile* *smile*

(are you allowed to abuse yourself? If you ignored yourself, would you cease to exist entirely?)

Crazy idea. Are we moving Vlastuin to the midfield?

that thought crossed my mind

there's 7 players from the PRE phantom first round still on the board.

even factoring in the Matty Clarke seismic curve ball factor,

we should get 2 of 'em

So we drafted Jayden Post 2.0 and a faster Jake Batchelor.

We’re never going to win another three flags in four years with this recruiting team.

Total amateurs.

I don't think we'll be trading two picks for one in the next round. If we thought any of them were high level assets we would've taken one of them at 17. I think we'll take our chances with the lot we have.

But, then again, I have no idea. And they could've been splashing around trade offers to all and sundry. Think I'll stick to losing at Lotto.

I am super impressed with our picks. Both perfect for the modern game and both have the crucial element - pace. We pick a midfielder or two now and it's perfect haul. Baker will go into the midfield this year and improve our clearances, not too mention RCD evolving into an above average player.

Just a hunch, but reckon we'll keep two of our picks where they are and trade one into next year.

Clarke has mentioned the possibility of strengthening next year’s draft hand a few times. Although a lot of what he says to the media is meaningless, I get the feeling that line is about managing supporter expectations for this draft.

Thanks, interesting.
Whats your thoughts on Lohmann?
A moot point as we didn't trade
Yeah. He’s interesting. I had him on my list of under the radar-possible late gems (ie 3rd round and beyond) types on Tuesday.

He’s an all round sort of kid. Can take a strong mark for his size, athletically solid, strong over the ball. Prepared to put himself in harms way when he needs to. Acceptable skill level that has its moments however. Plays with a bit of flair and takes things on.

He sometimes bites off more than he can chew though which can make him appear a bit unpolished. Not a big accumulator but he’s one of those annoying, attitude type kids whose involvement can often be influential. Opposition fans may take a dislike to him in the Rhys Mathieson sort of sense. Just has a bit of that type of attitude with him.

Interesting call to be made by Freo tonight. If they keep that pick which I think they would, will shape the rest of this draft. If they overlook Johnson again then it will throw all predictions from then on out the window.

Early days there were whispers we were keen on Ned Long. Could he be one of our smokies?
