2021 Draft Thread

happy draft day all.

lets assume an unspecified trade and offer up 2 four man lists

1. who you want (your ideal with some semblance of realism), and
2. who you think we'll get

1. Johnson, Vanrooyen, Sonsie, Ronny

2. Gibcus, Johnson, Taylor, Ronny
Gibcus,Hobbs if we can manage to move up our second,,if not Butler,Macdonald ,Williams,,Lohmann.

Pick 9 - Will be one of Hobbs, Gibcus or Johnson
Pick 17 - Will be one of Sonsie or JVR

Whispers we are looking at doing a deal with the Bombers for their pick 13.

theres no combination in there which wont have me banana dancing.

Bombers would be mad to deal off 13, depending whose there I suppose. going by the phantoms, its the groove-in-the-goldpan pick.

I suppose thats why we want it?

what would it take?

As always just happy to go with what BH and MC do, however I’d rather keep our picks in this draft and not trade into next years , my thinking is we are not going to have another Dustin Martin for a long long time , so while him, Shedda, Lambo, Lynch ,B & F winner D Grimes , etc are still capable of near best football, I think we add youth that could potentially really impact in 2023 and not keep topping up a slow rebuild . Either way get this draft right we are going to be in a very good position going forward

selling pick 15 doesnt excite me.only if its a outstanding deal such AS SAINTS OR BOMBERS HANDING OVER 2022 FIRST ROUND PICK PLUS A SWEETENER OR LIONS PICK 19 PLUS A SWAP OF OUR NORTH SECOND WITH THEIR FIRST IN 2022.
Me either, but he did say we would only give it up unless something significant came back the other way.
What may be anti-climatic today, may have us super excited next year.
Let’s not put all our eggs in the 2021 basket, building a great list is done over a period of time.

Gibcus will fill a key position for 12 years plus,so really it would be a no brainer to take him,,plus with his marking ability and pace he might be able to go forward .

agree. as good as Hobbs is, its a pretty rare position to have the country's standout, spring-heeled, CHB available to you.

Gibcus and Balta could well be the backline equivalent of Franklin and Roughhead.

I don't think it will happen, but I'd love two fast classy mids that can kick - two potential A graders i.e. a high ceiling, high risk approach. Johnson and Sonsie would be my preferred first two picks. So I'm sure it will be Gibcus and JVR

its pretty hard to see a scenario under which we are discontent tonight.

we'd have to grab Knevitt at 7 and Sinn at 15?

I would love Gibcus and JVR (13 will do it) in the bag tonight (thats 3.9 metres of man), then work the trade in the pub to grab Sonsie and another mid Thursday,

and go mid-crazy in 2022

He also ran about 50

He ran 25m. Kicked 49m.
MCG dimensions 171m long. Fence to Fence. Boundary line is 5m out, so take off 10m.
Playing size 161m long.
He ran to 49m out. So he ran 31m, give or take. Took one bounce.
Could've been pinged for running too far which would've been a travesty

Dealing with Didoro we might need to give up Dustys first born child.

I am wanting Gibcus off the board by our pick only because I have been on the Hobbs bandwagon for quite sometime. I can see the temptation in picking a KPP that we could turn into a damaging weapon up forward.

Isnt JVR the best contested mark in his year? A solid and reliable footballer with great anticipation.
Balta and JVR could well be the modern equivalent of Rance and Astbury.

Picking JVR also gets us Hobbs or Johnson.
Picking Gibcus also gets us Sonsie

So many possible brilliant outcomes

"Potentially some clubs with picks in the 20s are keen on our pick 15 and we would be reluctant to give it up unless there was a good offer. But if we could get back into pick 19 or 20 the player we select might not be much different.”

Sonsie
We move out 15.
And want to trade into 19. Brisbane. Who have a future first to offload as they have F/S Ashcroft coming next year. This is the Sonsie or JVR pick, before Hawks / Freo respectively.

Im still not convinced Gibcus will be there at our pick,The GC would be mad to take Andrew at there selection.
