2021 Draft Thread

What's so good about Nick Daicos? Big head? Hearing SEN this morning, he complained about not being interviewed by GWS....why?

Maybe he's scared about being stuck to the Scum because of his dad?
He will cop what Jack Watts copped.
Can't see him being allowed to run free in the AFL .
One Townsend style tackle or Sydney Stack bump could have him in early retirement.
The little pies will be very upset if he is nothing more then an Obree or Licura

The Age has us taking Gibcus … and Johnson at 17!

17. Richmond
Matthew Johnson (midfielder)
Subiaco, 192cm/81kg

Johnson was Western Australia’s best in the AFL grand final curtain raiser against South Australia and caught particular attention after that contest. He is a tall midfielder but rather than imposing himself at the contest, he hurts opposition with his class and decision-making on the outside. It may seem an injustice to place Johnson this low considering the Hawks could take him as early as pick seven, but a combination of list needs and differing club views in the picks to follow mean it is not unrealistic that Johnson slides to the Tigers’ second pick. Here, he would be too good a talent for Richmond to pass up and offers the young midfield talent the Tigers will likely target.

Gibcus and Hobbs....

*drools*

Trade up for that and then trade up slightly again to get Sonsie. Then take someone late with a pick in the 40's and 50's to round out the draft.

Something like that and I'll be stoked.

I'm actually loving this option.

Get 11 (13) and 51 (will come into low 40's - or potentially take their 3rd in 2022) from the Bombers for 17 and 27
Then trade 26 and 28 to North for 20 and either a 2022 3rd or pick 47 (depending on the Bombers would depend if it was a 21 or 22 pick as we wouldn't want 2 I don't think). Pretty much every phantom has North taking Motlop so must be some good intel, reckon he will still be there at 26 so makes a lot of sense for them to bring their Pick 47 forward 20 spots.

We take Gibcus at 9, Hobbs or Johnson (1 of them will still be there) at 13, then at 22 (Norths pick) we take Sonsie. Done and done.

Not sure who we would take with the later pick, maybe thats where the Soligo links come in, or we take someone that slides.

Gibcus, Hobbs / Johnson and Sonsie is a dream (let it be reality by Thursday evening).

Starting to think this draft thins out after 30 very quickly.
Agreed.
Yesterday I suggested Bullus was taking charlie Dean too early with our last pick 28.
But couldn't find anyone suitable to pick instead. Lots of outside types and kids with flaws

Its why trading up and getting a late pick is reasonable, still a fair chance to get a Fejo or Sam Banks or Arthur Jones

Emma Quayle used to nail the draft, nothing out there remotely reliable. I also suspect there's some chicanery going on, particularly with Freo.
I lost faith in them when they had us hot for Stocker & it later emerged that we didn't even rate him at all. Perhaps it was a smokescreen. By then Quayle was long at GWS & no longer did phantom drafts

does he say anything?
Heard this interview & also the 1 on RFC website & in both he gives absolutely nothing away. Lessons have been learnt. Seems if A happens we'll do this.... if B happens we'll do that... The impression i get is we are prepared for certain instances & have done our homework.
