One thing about Hobbs that he does have to get out of his game is a propensity to be a bit demanding on his team mates to give him the ball. You will see him being a bit demonstrative at times - screaming with his hands out for a handball or short kick. The NAB League games this year I’ve seen him bake his team mates on a few occasions for not giving him the ball. One classic one v Sandringham in Ballarat where he went ballistic at Charlie Molan for not hand balling to him. It was way over the top.

Needs to get that out of his game.

A quick glare from Dusty should do it :)

Guy I reckon might represent good value for a club is Blake Howes. I know he’s on the radar of all clubs but if he went + 17 or so he might be a bargain in 2 or 3 years. Ticks a lot of boxes. Endurance and speed combo (rare especially for 190cm), reasonable kick. Can take a good mark. Good tackler. If his body fills out I wonder if he can’t play a dedicated on ball role.

A watched a North Ballarat ruck-rover get reported for belting his own notoriously demanding ruckman in the mouth in the late 80's.

im pretty sure he got 3 weeks?

Possibly. Then the SA WA clubs could also apply a go home factor to Vic kids that swings it back the other way.

Speaking of which, one or two of the WA kids give me a gut feel of go home factor - especially Erasmus. Dunno why. Just a gut feel with a couple of them.
Covid is giving us the jitters particularly in respect of WA players whose Premier is a hard arse.
We have a team full of WA talent.
All bound to welcome at least one of the WA polished Mids. Not concerned.

Looking at these numbers without knowing who it is you would say lucky to be selected inside pick #20

I've been calling for a horizontal ball attack test at the draft camp for years.

if there was one, M.Voss and T.Cotchin's record would stand unbroken

until years after the world has ended and everything is forgotten.

I interpreted it as 'we really want Matt Johnson'
well that would make me happy b/c I am a big fan of Matt J.

But I don't think we tend to play these types of games... unfortunately.

You can say that about any under 18/19 player, but i have no doubt Hobbs can and will, that's the way he plays 'hard and aggressive' at the man and ball.
It's in his DNA, you either have it or you don't.
Yes agree with that , Players like Hobbs will adapt to another level and continue their game in a similar manner but will he be able to get the same production and elevate his game to the higher level than now ?

I see a Selwood type player but does he get to that level is the question

so.. assuming its Gibcus or Amiss with our first, and Ward & Hobbs gone by the second, who is the safest bet as next best inside ball-winning mid who could play in 2022? (we really need a couple of those)

RICHMOND national recruiting manager Matt Clarke says there are four players in line to be taken with its first selection at Wednesday night's NAB AFL Draft.

Clarke said the Tigers, who currently own pick No.7 which will likely be pushed out to No.9 following father-son bidding, would keep a simple strategy.

Speaking on AFL.com.au's NAB AFL Draft Countdown, Clarke agreed one of Josh Gibcus, Jye Amiss, Josh Ward or Ben Hobbs would likely become a Tiger.
I’m surprised Amiss is in our calculations at pick 9.
Doesn’t present as a potential A grade forward option to me.
Think if he was in last years draft, he’d barely make top 20 on exposed form.
Anyway we are desperate for a developing KPF and the fact he has recently grown to 196cm may have the recruiting dept thinking there’s more development in him.
Personally I hope Clarke is throwing red herrings at Fremantle

I'd want us to be all over Connor Macdonald in that scenario.

We may not, but remember Carlton have "jumped" us now a couple of times for a player they thought we wanted but apparently didn't. So maybe we are now jumping into these games.
