2021 Draft Thread

I was just about to mention Cotch & that's a great comparison when talking about kicking depth. As for the rest of his game, not in the same ballpark with scoreboard influence, kicking on the non preferred & outside capability (although Cotch has become more of a role player in recent times). Cotch ran a 3.07, so he's fractionally quicker than Hobbs, agility comparable & leap fractionally in Hobbs favour.
bully, cotch 20m time was 2.96

Looks like Top 6 all but locked in you'd think. Everyone pretty much on same page. When that happens with early picks history says rarely deviates. Hobbs or Gibcus for us you'd think. Johnson an outside chance.

I think the highest likeihood of a cat among pigeons is Crows not taking Rachelle.

This will create an imperceptible flow-on carnage

Regarding Hobbs

I dont think there is any doubt about his qualities and what he brings and most likely will be the same player at AFL level and will play 200 games as will Rachele & Ward. But how much more development and upside does he have ?

Is he the Next Viney or the next mitchell or does he have more upside and can become the next Selwood ?

Highly unlikely Ezy.

Top 6 is set in stone.

Hawthorn is the one with the 'actual' live pick.

If there was betting on the draft I would load up on one of our picks in the twenties being on someone who has hasn't been mentioned at all in the phantom drafts.

Hobbs is a battering ram. can he do the job against men? that's the only question. More a Jordan Lewis type. How does this type of player fair with the current rules?

If he cant do it against Men he has little value.

Absolutely, just mentioned Macdonald too, though I think Doerre criminally under rates him. Probably highly unlikely he makes it past 30 let alone 40 IMO.

Buckleys and none that MacDonald goes at 47. Essendon - Connor MacDonald
I'd easily have him ahead of Judson that Chriss has us taking at pick 31.

You can say that about any under 18/19 player, but i have no doubt Hobbs can and will, that's the way he plays 'hard and aggressive' at the man and ball.
It's in his DNA, you either have it or you don't.

along with Horne-Francis, he looks the most ready kid in the draft I reckon.

Not that I'm really into readiness. there's a moderately fine line between readiness and The manChild Effect.

I'll be stoked with Hobbs at 9. I'd be stoked with Gibcus too. Johnson too, if Freo take Hobbs.

I don't reckon Ill be banana dancing on Wed night with Ward or Amiss though.

Something I am pretty sure of, is we will have put some time into getting in Freo's head, holding the pick in the middle of their two.

It could be that we want Johnson and are throwing up Hobbs and Amiss to try wrong foot them?

Really not keen on Amiss. Think he’s a touch over rated. Don’t see him being the number 1 key forward. 0 goals in the two Colts finals this year is a worry too
And imagine the shiit he will be getting over the fence with a name like IMiss.

Haven't watched a single video.

But on needs I would go Gibcus. Plus he's from St Pats - good to keep the tradition going...

We have not had enough time to discuss the draft, the AFL needs to postpone it for atleast another month.

Good call Ezy. I am with you on Ward and Amiss. Ward just doesnt present me with any significant strengths and Amiss doesnt have the attributes you look for in a KP forward.

I form my opinions based on my own metrics, inferring that I'm a keyboard warrior doesn't improve your argument. I watch footage as much as you Bengal, even if that's from my humble computer. Good on you for being there live, I've listened, taken notes and used some of those in formulating my own rankings. But I've also been doing this for 15 years and have a pretty solid record so passing me off as a echo chamber nerd doesn't impress me one iota. If I like a player more there's usually a sound rationale, no need to get so precious.
I couldn't careless how long you have been doing it ,that doesn't make your assessments on player's right .
And you are a keyboard warrior ,you don't watch live matches.

My biggest issue is when you write off player's without having a full understanding of them ,but anyway hi ho hi ho.

RICHMOND national recruiting manager Matt Clarke says there are four players in line to be taken with its first selection at Wednesday night's NAB AFL Draft.

Clarke said the Tigers, who currently own pick No.7 which will likely be pushed out to No.9 following father-son bidding, would keep a simple strategy.

Speaking on AFL.com.au's NAB AFL Draft Countdown, Clarke agreed one of Josh Gibcus, Jye Amiss, Josh Ward or Ben Hobbs would likely become a Tiger.

lets play the ball in here please BT.

We lost Bully's input for a few years due to *smile* playing the man.

I know he's big enough to look after himself,

but nobody needs or wants it.

btw; every. single. one of us. is a keyboard warrior.

a couple of us just happen to have real hobbies

I like what you bring. just bring it in peace, please.

Here we go again, I'll it leave it for now, I'll come back and do a write up review once the draft is completed. I'll leave you guys to it. Enjoy.

Great post, does Hobbs normally set up as the defensive mid, or was he the go-to hitman at Ballarat? Can he do both?

Do you think that the Taylor Adams comparison is fair?
He can do both ,it all depends on if your ruck is winning,if he is the ball is usually to the team advantage, but he is one those player's who can read the play quickly, and react accordingly .
Yeah l guess Adams isn't a bad comparison,l don't get the man child talk though,he is solidly built ,but not a hulk type,183cm 79kg
