Don't forget those who urinate at Crown, brawl in the streets, drive drunk, beat up their wife/girlfriend, and so on.

I would also count in the Carlton boys who refuses to assist the salary cap breach investigation because "they are no longer with the club". Bl00dy cheats, I hate em!

Yeah them too. Thanks T74.

Your point and opinion are made on this one jb03. I just think it would be a very bad and far too risky move. As a member, I'd disapprove strongly. As bad as we are, we have to draw the line somewhere as a responsible organisation. If Cousins had already been playing for us, I'd suggest we should boot him - and the criteria for getting or keeping any player should be the same.
Have to agree with Hopper and Dave on this, 2 issues, 1st and foremost Cousins needs to get well and get his life in order, not worry about footy, 2nd RFC should be looking for YOUNGER players with NO baggage, even if they are less skilled etc we really don't need all the crap that comes with a Cousins/Gardiner,etc etc too much high maintenance whereas we've got areas than req this attention

Fair point. But he had to leave WC which repeatedly demonstrated its disinterest to get involved and later its inability to have any impact.

The game is full of players who have made it back in a new environment.

My point is that we have a sufficiently good track record to allow us the confidence, to at least examine the possibilities.

umm.. how many ICE and cocaine addicts has the RFC rehabilitated exactly?

We are about to get a new player welfare manager to Richmond.
This entire resource would be dedicated to one player!

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Don't know the answer to that Too but we seem to be doing a pretty good job with at least one.

Who?

You are suggesting we have a player at our club who is an ICE addict? A coke addict?

That is a huge and unfounded accusation. Who is it?

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

TOO and Mom, you may want to be very careful here. You don't want to make unfounded claims that could get Rosey sued.

What about rapists, flashers and perveyors of white collar crime? Would you be happy to have them at your club?

All cases would be treated on an individual basis jb.

Beside I doubt any of these would seriously impair a footballers ability to give it his best on game day or run the risk of suspension due to getting picked up by the system for drug use in the way an addict would.

Drug addicts generally only care about one thing and are unpredictable and unreliable in their pursuit to get high.
That is extremely destructive in a team environment.

What is not in doubt here is that Cousins is seriously ill. Don't just take my word for it. Those closest to him have said as much.

Cousins has lost his girlfriend, the captaincy & his career West Coast due to his habits. He will be lucky not to lose his life.

I would take Cousins if he wasn't damaged goods any day of the week but then he wouldn't be available at all.

There is no way on earth he will be at Richmond or any other club in '08 so I am not sure why you are still beating the drum. :headscratch

Yeah I just look at it differently. I don't factor WCE into this equation. I'm more interested in men like Cousins being men - and taking responsibility for their own current circumstances. Cousins is the drug addict, not the WCE. Sure, as an organisation WCE have some serious mopping up to do, but I fall short of blaming them for Cousins problems. Despite our track record (although I'm unsure what that would constitute) the product on offer is seriously damaged and clearly contagious. I'd be disappointed if we go anywhere near him, but that's just little ol' me.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

NO and no, done his dash I'm afraid, get well Ben!
maybe a chance for a club in 2009

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Could we please find and draft our own Cousins, or Kerr, or even better Judd, for once, please, pretty please....

Didn't say he was a player. Previously linked with Carlton and discussed on PRE around 12 months ago.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

I would just like to remind other posters like myself who initially marked the Yes for drafting button, that you can remove vote.

Once vote is removed then you can go ahead and tick NO.

I'm sure theirs a lot out their like me who have now changed our minds.

This poll is obviously innacurate now.

Vote NO for Cousins. ;D

Good to hear but that's a fairly long bow you are drawing there mom, particularly as they are not a player.
Also how much did the RFC have to do with said individuals recovery from their addiction? Do you know?

If they were still in the place Cousins is currently then I seriously doubt that they would have been employed.

Geez imagine how good Cousins would be if his ability wasn't impaired.

Personally I don't care if his loses his way, his wallet or even his marbles if he is getting 30 touches a week for the Tigers.

Vote Yes for Cousins to play in the AFL and more importantly, for Richmond.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

This guy is apparently a recovering addict and like Ben, will always be at risk of returning to his habit.

Let me put a totally hypothetical question. If we can help by providing the appropriate support structure for a recovering addict whose life to now has been footy, does it really matter if he is 1 month, 6 months or 12 months into that rehailitation, before we start?

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

We are clearly not getting anywhere with this.
I have said my bit and will be amazed if Cousins ever pulls on the boots again at AFL level.
Good luck to him if he does.
