Re: Ben Cousins threads and Poll [Merged]

Cousins might be going to rehab for addiction to ant depression drugs, not ice.

Miller does need to explore this at least.

If they have meeting's with him, and then decide not to do it after the meetings, I would be satisfied, but at least investigate it.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Why do we need to moralize over this decision he is one of the best mid fielders in the game and will be looking to prove to his family, friends, the football community, and himself that he still is one of the best going around. Without cousins couple of indiscretions any club would be bidding for him if he came on to the open market ,i guess what i'm trying to say is leave the moralizing in church and to the politicians trying to get elected and get the Best Bloody Footballers going for our club G Richmond would be sitting on the plane beside him on the way to usa and he would be signed up by the time they landed

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

I can only assume that all those voting yes feel that we aren't too far away from making an impact in the competition given Cousins will turn 30 next year and at most offer 3 more years good football with the likelihood of his performance dropping off sooner rather than later due to age and workload quite high.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

On the yes side, He'd teach by example a lot about getting the most out of yourself and hard training to our guys.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Get him. Put clear behavioural clauses in his contract - zero tolerance. There really doesn't appear to be much left in the PSD. He is worth taking a chance, if he slips up in any way give him the flick. What is there to lose?

He is a very good hard running midfielder and football wise our youth could learn alot from him.

The chance to put another 18 year old on our list.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Looks like the result of our PREbiscite is that there is a clear mandate from our supporter base for the club to do everything necessary to bring Cousins to the club.

Could teach our players a thing or two about tough training and hard running in a game- well worth the risk IMHO.

What do we employ coaches for?

Amplifies the folly of trading a decent pick on McMahon .... Still time to delist further though to accommodate more youth.

If Cousins is in the PSD , he'll clearly be the best available player...Get him .

True. Though in this draft picking up a kid in the psd who will turn out right is a long shot. Though I do hear the Foley and Thursfield analogies coming back my way.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Rather than just spout success stories with late picks (of which there are many) I'll just say that Richmond recruits easily the least amount of kids and to keep pace with the Geelongs and West Coasts of the league we need to recruit at least as many as they do. Picking up a soon-to-be 30 year old at the expense of a late pick in the ND is not the way to do it, no matter how good he is.

They could delist someone like Hyde or Tivendale to make room for him which would make more sense.

Unfortunately, they are not out on the field on game day, and he would be a leader for sure. Would be an outstanding pick up in the PSD, a free champion player for goodness sake!! Look what the Tankers had to pay for Juddy!

Have given this further thought and believe a young kid should not be sacrificed if the club is thinking of obtaining Cousins.

Sounds a bit odd, bro. Wotcha got?

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Think they are still in a position to send Joel in as the second vet to make room for Ben although I can't work out the position with Howat. Was a rookie who went on to lthe ist for Cogs. ???

We made our intentions clear with regards to this sort of drafting.

Just get Cousins.

Without giving my opinion Im quite surprised that its 93 to 46 for Cousins to come to us

Me too CC, I'd thought it would be far more weighted to the yes vote.

So you think we're close enough to making an impact that getting Cousins could make a real difference?

If not, why wouldn't you just play the kids and get a true picture of where the team is at and get the corresponding draft picks. All I see Cousins doing in a best case scenario is helping us finish higher than we should and slowing down the rebuild.
