Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

this constant rebuild them is just a WEAK excuse! Its saying, look we will give it a shot and then if we lose a couple, its OKAY, we are REBUILDING!

This guy is a GREAT footballer! I'd make sure that if we do pick him up, we cant get fined or lose draft picks etc. like the eagles. But come on ppl, this guy is NO DOUBT a marquee player with some baggage, hence he is over in the USA.

If anyone else had not played all year and come out with 30+ possies in the 1st few weeks upon arrival we would be calling them GOD!

COUSINS TO TIGERLAND!

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Get Cousins to Richmond - he is a Brownlow Medalist and his style of footy is top shelf just the sort of player you want our kids running with. He will have a point to prove and will prove it - let that be at Richmond.

Further, the Weagles have reacted too quickly to this latest incident - he has been reimbursed ($50) for wrongful events by the wollapers and hence should be available to play AFL. The question is with whom - will the Weagles take him back? or will he be the first in the draft?

If Richmond can get him - then get him......................

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Without giving my opinion Im quite surprised that its 93 to 46 for Cousins to come to us

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

If we can get Ben in the pre-season draft then come January 08 we will have added to our squad Cousins, Cothin or Morton, McMahon, Morton. At the start of this year we had the likes of Krakouer, Hall, Kingsley, Knoble still floating around. Clearly in the space of 12 months our list would have improved 10 fold. So for those thinking the rebuild is not happening, think again.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Imagine if Carltank got him? Judd leaves WA to escape the druggie culture. CFC brings Cousins over to join Judd. Priceless. :rofl

Priceless all right, they would only have 2 players on the ground, they wouldn't be able to afford the rest of a team.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

dont know if any one else mentioned this but it said we may draft him and put him on long term injury for a year..

How funny would it be to stand at Subi as cousie kicks a goal and yell "you didnt want him!!"

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

If the club handles this with maturity - and by that I mean keeps the sponsors and other stakeholders informed and part of the decision then I think its a possible goer.

The things that are essential to it working for all concerned are:

1. Some of the heat goes out of the 'affair' by start of next season. A week is a long time in football. It will definately be controversial, but what seems impossible now may cool to a 'missed opportunity' come Feb 2008. Once its done people may quickly come to terms with the idea and be wiling to give it a chance (even if they are no less willing to sink the boot if it goes wrong)
2. It is carefully managed with the media and AFL that it is seen as RFC doing something positive by giving someone a second chance, not RFC so desperate it will take a drug addict.
3. The sponsors understand and endorse the risks.
4. The final decision is not what anyone else thinks, but what is best for RFC. We should avoid being so paralysed by others perceptions that we can no longer take calculated risks.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Without thinking about it....ABSOLUTELY *smile*ING YES...and throw him straight in to play to after a pre season of course...none of injury list crap.

If Miller has balls and chases the Cousins..
Come Jan 2008 we have: a fit cogs, simmo then add, cousins, morton, macDud, cotchin with all our other young guns.....................we will firm into decent betting to make the 8 and break 35000 members....without question

make no mistake that if Ben sign for us IF, membership will go up, Proper Sponsors dont care who plays they just want to throw money on exciting and winning teams...so all you out there opposing such a deal/signing...and dont quote TAC as that was a wrong deal from the start...who in there right minds sponsors a footy club "dont drink and drive" thats what 99% of footy clubs do...drink....... wake up and smell the sunshine, cousins signs for tigers membership will go up....we play good footy we get more sponsors to........i will take anyone on for bet on that.

as true as all that is 8ball, he's no spring chicken and we have foley anyway. Maybe a ruckman, even a delisted one, would be the long term view

if we could get richards, bradley etc. playing well at least we could trading them next year
:rofl

Fine but we do need a young ruckman more than we need a 29 year old small midfielder. Apart from the issues.

If Port took him I'd think OK, they think they can pinch a flag.

He wouldn't be around long enough to have an impact with us.

The next best option would have to Kent Kingsley before I really considered Cousins

With all his problems and as a 29yo the answer's gotta be no. He could really do some damage among our young list.
yeh he could actually teach them to play some good footy for once
Yes, yes, I see your point. I apologise for having a different opinion to yours. I just think the potential risks outweigh the potential benefits.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

A member of my family works for a solicitor who is involved with WCE and the other charge against Cousins may also be dropped.

Yes,that has been the gossip of late.

I really hope Teflon Benny applies to be allowed in the upcoming draft. If nothing else it would be good to see Vlad sweating bullets.

I bet the AFL lawyers are frantically sifting over the fine print.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

You would have to think there would be a good case for restraint of trade.

I like the idea of drafting him and then putting him on the long term injury list if we have to.

I hope like hell we don't have the first pick in the PSD next year.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

I wouldn't be in favour of having him sitting dormant on our list for a season. He's no spring chicken.

If he can't play in 2008,then put me down as a no to Richmond.

Would you serioulsy be happy for us to forego a chance to improve our Swiss cheese list just to keep a spot for a 30yo to maybe or maybe not play in a year's time? I don't see how that could benefit us when we need players now.
