I know I will probably going to get crucified for this, but what do you guys think of Cuz being our captain for the day? He can give out more advice and give a nice end to his career. I think it would be great and players and supporters would get something out of it! ;D

Yay or Nay?
Nay

Great effort by Cuz to sign autographs and thank the crowd for their support at training today.

It was a normal training day for Cuz. All he does the day before the game is have a joke with the players, hold a footy whilst he walks around and have a kick here and there.
Id be guessing if I said he was going to play.

RFC Twitter said he's definitely playing after coming through training well today.

10.51 left in the last quarter, Morton kicks second goal in a row, tigers down by a few points, tigers on a roll - in with a massive chance. Cotchin getting a rub down near the bench and Cousins is standing on top of him, in his ear, pumping him up and giving him advice on how we can pinch it. It's obvious the 2 are close and cuz has taken the chimp under his wing.

When was the last time a senior player has shown this much on field leadership and took it upon himself to teach, encourage and mentor the young players like cousins has. I remember the days when the gaspars, bowdens and kellaways would just put their head down, sulk and walk quietly off the ground after another hiding and the kids would be thinking what the hell is going on.

Lack of leaders, mentors, positive role models, and constant encouragement has been the biggest cancer at this club for over 25 years. our so called leaders have been introverted and selfish, but this wasn't their fault as they didn't have anyone to show them the way before them.

well done cuz, shame you couldn't go on for one more year.

Yeah so true Harry. Cuz is so far the best leader leysy's seen in Tiger colours its not funny. Bar none over the past 20 years. The ultimate leader on game day. Gunna really miss watching him go about his staff at matches.

You can also add Kane Johnson into that group you had.

Reckon the Chimp hugged Cuz with a stack of passion at least 4 times before they even got off the ground after the game. Some serious love between them.

Thanks Ben for coming to our club. Hopefully the club has been as good for you as you've been for the young players and the supporters at large.

Would have loved to have seen you play one more season in the yellow and black, although I guess your body told you it was time.

While you may have lost a little pace and kicking penetration (but not as much as many so-called experts thought); your ability to find and use the ball was superb. The example that you've set for our players will hopefully not be forgotten.

Perhaps one day, you'd consider returning to the club in a developmental coaching capacity. Best wishes in your retirement and keeping your troubles at bay. There'll always be a place for you at Punt Road with the greatest team of all.

Following harry's post, his last game was amazing. Couldn't run or kick, but still played an important part when on the ground or the bench. Thats just amazing at the top level. I reckon we had a bit of a letdown that caused the second half of the first and the second q disasters. We came out a bit too pumped after a big buildup, dropped the bundle, then re-grouped. Cuz's efforts from the bench, the advice, the unbridled enthusiasm was brilliant to watch. I'm gunna miss him. But I reckon next year would have been one too many.

Agree on all fronts Leysy and Harry. The way he worked the bunch was huge. The high five of Dimma on the bench when we were charging back, the pumping of the fists, the whisper to Cotchin. It all comes so easily too him, it is who he is. You cannot teach that.

And the Chimp hugs were a true passing of the baton type thing. There were at least three or four in the centre sqaure right after the siren and then after Chimp and Newman carried him off there was another longer hug. The bond is huge.

I think, hope and pray that the Chimp takes up this kind of stuff on gameday.

The Cuzzy era was fantastic and hopefully the start of a new leadership era.

One of the things I admire most about Cuz is that he could have gotten an extra year with RFC no problems, but he knew that he couldn't contribute at the level he wanted to so pulled the plug. So many champions before him have not had such good judgement and have gone that extra year too many. Just this year we have seen it with the Adelaide vets (not including Goodwin who had a great year) and Johno. I think Fletcher should call it a day as well - too many injuries starting to pile up.

Yep, time for a few players to take up the slack now and provide that leadership that our club has lacked for so long. They have had a couple of years to learn from someone who many in the know have said is one of the best leaders they have seen, so hopefully those lessons are put to good use in 2011 and beyond.

Its another example of why we need to offer Cuz a role at our club next year. Wed be :crazy if we didnt.
It could be an assistant coaching role (move over Campbo) or create a new role where Cuz is on the bench encouraging the players as they come on and off the ground.
Id be really :veryupset :frustration :fire :veryupset If Cuz accepts a role at another club and find out we havent made an effort to offer him a role at our club next year.
