I think that's a silly question Rosy, no I don't get excited about Cotchin, Richo or Cogs :
Because literally ALL the enthusiasm was because of Ben......
It isn't the hype that I rate. It's not even the buzz around the club, that genuine hope that finals is a certainty this year. It must be so much easier for Richo to run his guts out now that he can't imagine us missing the finals again, but it's the other things.
Deledio and Foley are getting the same treatment Judd and Kerr got - these are the things that Benny excites me about. I love the idea of Benny talking to Jack Riewoldt about missing that final siren kick against St Kilda. What I love about Cousins is his ability to inspire those around him and his leadership qualities.
The fact he went off the rails in his private life has nothing to do with his ability to teach Cotchin how to prepare himself mentally to train at 120% without over-training the body.
From a supporters point of view, yes it's nice to have real hope for once. Not just that false finals talk every year that we all know is just talk, but genuine hope. That's not what excites me though...
It's all the little things he brings. If he inspires confidence in the younger players then I'm happy.
Do you think the youngsters aren't learning anything valuable from Cousins that they can't get off Johnson or Campbell?
