I think that's a silly question Rosy, no I don't get excited about Cotchin, Richo or Cogs ::)

Because literally ALL the enthusiasm was because of Ben......

It isn't the hype that I rate. It's not even the buzz around the club, that genuine hope that finals is a certainty this year. It must be so much easier for Richo to run his guts out now that he can't imagine us missing the finals again, but it's the other things.

Deledio and Foley are getting the same treatment Judd and Kerr got - these are the things that Benny excites me about. I love the idea of Benny talking to Jack Riewoldt about missing that final siren kick against St Kilda. What I love about Cousins is his ability to inspire those around him and his leadership qualities.

The fact he went off the rails in his private life has nothing to do with his ability to teach Cotchin how to prepare himself mentally to train at 120% without over-training the body.

From a supporters point of view, yes it's nice to have real hope for once. Not just that false finals talk every year that we all know is just talk, but genuine hope. That's not what excites me though...

It's all the little things he brings. If he inspires confidence in the younger players then I'm happy.

Do you think the youngsters aren't learning anything valuable from Cousins that they can't get off Johnson or Campbell?

I wouldn't have a clue what they're learning from whom. I've asked you for specifics in regard to your comments in that regard but you haven't answered my questions.

i'd forget about it benny, your talking to stone walls mate!

its simple really. your excited (like many of us) about having cuz on the books and all the positive things he brings to the club.

i dont see why you have to validate your line of "enthusiasm".

i suppose its just a cruel throwback from years and years of rollercoaster torture that we try to temper our excitement but bugger that!!! WE ARE ON THE RISE!!! and having cuz has been nothing but the biggest positive for this club as you have had to repeatly explain to infinity.

there are more positive tiger news stories, more positive barbie/bar talk and even better... more jealous opposition supporters this preaseason than any before and I LUV IT!!! :guitar :guitar :guitar

Wow. Pretty clear about some peoples stance on Benny.

Good one scoop. Feel free to elaborate on how you perceive my stance on Benny if you're including me in "some peoples".

From your posts is seems that you think Ben Cousins has had no impact on anything positive at the club.

I don't think that at all. You are completely wrong in that regard, although true to your previous digs at me I don't imagine that would concern you too much anyway. I just don't think he's the be all and end all some make out and there is more than just Benny to be enthusiastic about. If people don't think it's acceptable to question what's behind claims, especially when made as fact, maybe they shouldn't post on discussion forums.

Instead of the personal judgements feel free to discuss the actual topic peoples. :blah

Care to take a guess as to who would be teaching the most? :)

I respect Darren Gaspar for the way Will Thursfield talks about all the helpful advice he gave. We now have one of the best backlines in the league - and that's partly thanks to Darren Gaspar's help.

Do you agree?

It's the same scenario with Cousins and Deledio, Foley + the kids. He's a champion Brownlow medalist 10 year consistent legend of the game who has led a team to the premiership.

I think he can teach a thing or two. :hihi

And I hope you don't think I'm saying he's the be all and end all. That article about Cotchin, Jack and Dan doing all the extra training had me as excited as anything. There is a lot to be looking forward to at the moment when it comes to Richmond, and Cousins is just the icing making it all that much sweeter 8)

dont worry rosita, i would rest easy, people are'nt that stupid to think ben is the be all and end all of the '09 Richmond Season, theyre just excited about what he's brought to the table so far. if they are distorted views then yes i agree with your sentiments but i honestly think its just positive preseason hyperbole and excitement.

short of following Cousins around at every training run and timing (in seconds) how long he spends with each player, recording the time of day, with whom he spoke to, what they spoke about i dont think theres any reason to start party pooping the fun of this preseason by repeatedly asking for specifics

Why waste time doing all that when you can follow him to Japanese restaurants to drink water and then take a bath?

How in Merlin's beard do you call this statement a personal dig?

It is a honest question asking you for your view point. If I have been having a dig at you then you have been having personal digs at Benny Furs the entire day.

Out of interest benny what are the wonderful things benny has brought to the training track and how do things in that department differ from pre-benny days?

All I needed was a answer, not a defence. There was no personal dig at all. I was indeed asking questions about the topic, trying to stimulate debate.

For the record I don't think Benny C is the answer to all our problems but is undeniable that the entire Ben Cousins saga has seen Richmond receive a massive amount of exposure to the mass media considering how much of a dead period it us. That can only be a good thing. Sure there was a hint of excitement about Richmond in 09 BC (Before Cousins, not Christ) but the excitement has snowballed beyond belief.

Not a question in site in either of your posts (quoted unedited below) scoop so I can't see how you can claim you asked questions on the topic trying to stimulate debate.

Questions, statements, sentences. If you want to call me on that fine, they are statements trying to stiumlate the debate. Both those quotes you picked are about the topic. They are not "digs" at all. How are the differnet to what you posted to Benny Furs?

And you have ignored my post about the topic. I was and have been all about disussing the topic of Ben Cousins and what a great asset he is to the Richmond Football CLub and how has my full support.

Even if he falls over, the members have already joined.

We didn't have a major sponsor before he came on board so we have lost nothing. Our media profile is up through the roof, how many people are uttering the phrase "Richmond are my second favourite team", all of a sudden people are a little worried about what might be coming, the term sleeping giant is being uttered by other supporters. Now life BC (before Cousins) was looking OK and AD (after drafting) things seem even better. If anything he takes the spotlight away from the youngsters and allows them to just go about the business of playing football.

BEEP BEEP BEEP BEEP

Sorry that's the sound of my truck reversing, was going to post in this thread on reading 2 or three pages ago but it's gone miles on since then and I'm staying out of this alleyway. ;D

I do like blx's work though... think this sums up the best of the last 3 pages from my viewpoint...

Never heard that expression before, but I like it. :eek:ld :headscratch

I'll be interested to see how many more WA Tigers jump on board after Richmond have their ''Sportsmans" night at Burswood on the eve of our 1st round NAB game.

To have Benny,Cog's,Polak,Newy & Richo all talking in front of the WA faithful can only be described as a masterstroke from the RFC..Well done Richmond!! :clap
