Forget wrongful dismissal. Don't think there is a hope in hell after a 5 day cocaine binge given his supposed contract clauses.

Not sure how you figure this one out. Anything he did after the day they terminated him can't be used as a reason for giving him the raspberry. His contract clauses could have included "not breaking wind on even numbered days", but once they flicked him there's nothing to stop him going down the street and stocking up on baked beans.

Not that I'm saying a 5 day cocaine binge is a good thing :)

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Personally I wouldn't. He will be 30 years of age by then and we could have gotten a year into another kid that will offer a longer term future to the club.

Cousins, even if fit, is nearing the end of his career and we are still a long away of being a powerhouse club, so we should continue the rebuilding with youth that we have started.

Cousins in his day was a great footballer, no doubt, but serious doubts remain whether he will ever recapture that greateness.

Why waste 2008 having someone sitting out of the game on the longterm injury list when we could have blooded another kids.

Cousins just has too much baggage now for me. Maybe I am just a little synical, but I have dealt with far too many people in his situation to be as understanding as some.

I hope we have learnt from the years of quick fixes that the club has tried to manufacture.

The short of it is Benny will not win us a Premiership, we need to continue to plan for the future.

West Coast couldn't control him so what makes anyone think Richmond can. We are not overly blessed with strong leaders at the club at the moment unfortunately.

But he is still on their list.

I am sure there are plenty of other instances the Eagles based there decision on and they could very easily use his recent form to show a consistent course of conduct and justify their decision.

Your correct it cant be used as a reaons for dismissal, but could be used to justify their decision.

how long does cocaine remain in yr system for? like if he had a five day coke bender, how long would traces of it remain?

This is a good question. I thought that the hair follicles held onto the traces for quite a long time?

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

days, weeks or months?

i am curious about this cos if he goes cold turkey he would still have traces if tested, or would it all be gone?

If the AFL give him an oppotunity to play in 2009 & rest a year, would you consider the option of RFC snapping him up in a PSD on minimal wages for a year of a 2 year contract & placing him on the long term injury list for a year.

Similar to Roos (sydney) said, but I rather we secure him now for some cost and should he not get better a termination clause tighter than a flea's backside

Like your thinking Al.

SUBSTANCE BLOOD SALIVA SWEAT URINE HAIR
Alcohol unknown unknown unknown 12-24 hrs n/a
Amphetamine unknown 3 days unknown 1-4 days up to 90 days
Barbiturates unknown unknown unknown 1-21 days unknown
Benzodiazepines unknown unknown unknown 1-42 days unknown
Cannabis (single use) 2-3 days 12-24 hrs unknown 2-3 days up to 90 days
Cannabis (habitual use) 2 weeks 12-24 hrs unknown up to 12 wks up to 90 days
Cocaine unknown 1 day unknown 4-5 days up to 90 days
Codeine/Morphine unknown 12-36 hrs unknown 2-4 days up to 90 days
Heroin unknown unknown unknown 2-4 days up to 90 days
Methamphetamine 1-3 days unknown unknown 3-5 days up to 90 days
PCP 1-3 days 3 days unknown 3-7 days up to 90 days

Although in a person who is not a habitual user any traces may not be detectable after 24-48 hrs. A habitual user will react positive over a longer period depending on the period and amount of abuse.

The hair sample tests are much more expensive and whilst they retain traces for a longer period generally will not detect drug use within the previous week and contrary to popular belief its not just a matter of taking one hair.

Sorry bout the formatting as not sure how to put into tables on here.

The 'hair' test is the one that Martina Hingis has just used to try and clear her name.

Surprising Benny hasn't done the same thing.

Oh wait..

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

Despite the bleating of the weagles the fact is if cousins had not been arrested he would not have been sacked and given the afl the smoking gun they wanted to lay the disrepute charge.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

He needs a year out of the game.

All this talk of coming to Melbourne and "change of environment" is rubbish.

In defense of our WA friends, we don't have coke and ice here :rofl

He found stuff in LA, he will find stuff in Melbourne.

He needs a break and he needs to heal.

Hearsay. Do you know the meaning of the term. He has admitted himself he has a "substance abuse problem". 5 day bender on Cocaine in LA. 911 call transcripts, admissions from the hospital of his admission.

He won't be turning anything inside out in 2008, first he has to turn himelf around. At the moment his is on a big slippery slide heading down hill at a rate of knots.

Yep, and whats more reports this morning are that he is denying he was on a coke binge, contrary to the 911 call. Sounds to me like he is still denying the extent of his problems.

If he truly wasn't on a coke binge I look forward to his suit against Nine for defamation.

It just get weirder and more confusing as it goes on. If someone posted the last 6 weeks on the rumour board you'd say it's bollocks. You couldn't make it up could you?

64% say draft him. Interesting.

Most of that poll was done before the binge incident in LA.
Means nothing.

Do a new one and see what the result is.

This Susie Ela is clearly another one who's just out to get Teflon Benny.

He's a long way from getting better by the sounds of it.

Not really. Unless I'm mistaken you can change or remove your vote if you wish.

Re: Cousins: The poll. Do you want the Tigers to draft Ben Cousins?

You know what I say take him if his is the best option in the PSD.

Put him on long term injury, give him 2008 off, take a batch of rookies and elevate the best preformed rookie. Gives you a extra five spots on your list and Cousins in 2009 if he can come back, if he is still a mess cut him at the end of next year.
