should be confidential, shouldn't it?

not when the dates are discussed on the website:

The Tigers have invited applications, via the AFL Coaches’ Association, for their senior coaching position by July 3, and will start initial interviews with candidates by the middle of that month..............“We’ll also talk to other potential candidates, who may not have formally expressed their interest in the position, if we feel they are suitable.”

Sorry mate, bad cutting and pasting, my bad. I meant the list of applicants should be confidential.

not hard to get that info.

applicants will be leaking their name to boost their currency in the media (gotta love tampering with the jury pool)

also Hutchy will be camping out at Punt Road, and taking notes for whoever drops by

We really have no excuses if we get it wrong this time do we.

We have the pick of the bunch at the moment.

Unless of course the Wobbles don't reappoint Malthouse.

I'm surprised there isnt a bit more enthusiasm about Leigh Tudor's credentials:

* has coached his own side in the VFL side to a flag
* played in the good years at Geelong under Blight including two GF's
* was in the Geelong system as they rebuilt to a flag
* is now part of the team at the saints who seemed to have turned that club around

Surely this is a better credentialled background on paper than say Leon Cameron (and certainly Wayne Campbell).

FWIW my preferences (without knowing any of the candidates and in no particular order) are Tudor, Hinkley and Richardson.

I mentioned in a thread a while back and will re-emphasise. I know that one RFC director is a big fan of Leigh Tudor and that he is this director's preferred candidate. I found that out 2 or 3 months ago and with St Kilda's success since, I asssume his prospects havee improved further. I saw him interviewed at qtr time in a recent game. His interview didn't really impress me. But, then again, neither did Ross Lyon up until a few months ago.

So the list of potential coaches is:
Viney
Leppitch
Brad Scott
Hinkley
Hardwick
Williams
Campbell
Rawlings
Longmire
Tudor
Cameron
Sumich
Sheedy
Buckley

Have I missed anyone?

K Rudd (he seems to be have something to say on everything, and now that the Pope and Kev are chums who knows what divine intervention could be conjured)

The board (officially) don't have an input until the final stage of the selection process, when presented with the short list and recommendation.

I don't know how many candidates "short" is, however Tudor may not make it that far.

I wonder where "the process" is currently at? Begun interviews?

"The Process"
* External coaching experts help develop selection framework
* Stage 1. Initial interviews by coaching sub-committee
* Stage 2. Second "rigourous" round of interviews. Expected to begin start of August
* Stage 3. Short list and recommendation to board

Malthouse

Just watching Pies and Doggies. It's become apparent to me that we must pursue Malthouse. The Pies look awesome. Run, run, run and play unselfish direct footy. With our speed and potential it could be a perfect mix.
Old Micky isn't done with just yet.
Surely a better bet than Sheedy if we go down the more experienced coach avenue.

to all the Buckley lovers - Tigerforce & co

Buckley is Collingwood & always will be !!! If the Richmond FC is stupid enough to give him the job he will use us to hone his skills until he leaves for Collingwood. And he will leave . Underneath it all he hates us & always will . He is Collingwood & we hate them !! Have you forgotton!! There are many applicants who will have great credentials for the job . He is not the only one who can toughen us up. Time for Richmond to become a lot smarter and not be used again. I am Richmond & I hate Collingwood!! No to Buckley!!!!

I'm not a Buckley lover. I don't want him either.

I just wanted to see how much interest he has in commentating Richmond today and he showed it. He made more comments about the losing team rather than a winning team. He's shown his bias towards a team he could coach.

No-one ever coaches again after coaching us.

I hadn't considered that fact wayne. Shows how bad we are at selecting them. Our gig really is a poisoned chalice for coaches. Hopefully one day someone will be knighted for bringing us success. rather than beheaded for failure.

i think sheedy by a mile , we need somebody who can steer these young men, into a great team.
the club has a lot to look forward to , post , vickery ,rewoilt, mortan , nahais, rance, cotchin, jackson, lukey, graham, tambling, deledio, and many moore....

With the shape of our list and the amount of development needed, Alan Richardson is my favorite.

SHEEDY – A Hypothetical:

When Sheedy got the boot from Essendon, it was reasonably controversial. At least in the choice of Knights as his replacement.

Knights has now won a few doubters over and the Bombers are looking at finals. They’ve beaten Pies, Blues and Hawks.

WHAT IF… Sheedy was still coaching Essendon , the Bombers were performing as they are now, he was at the end of a contract and there was that old RFC interest in him given our circumstances. Would there be a lot more support for him and a strong “Get Sheedy” push from several ?

Is Knight’s success partly or largely on the list management structure that Sheedy helped put in place? Is this evidence that Sheedy has once again turned over and built a list for not the first time? Or is Knights just lucky the old hands are still standing up and they’ll be stuffed in a couple of years?

Is AFL coaching necessarily a young man’s game now? In industry, it is often the experienced people that are looked to and can be relied on to know what to do. The rules may change slightly, but the fundamentals are pretty consistent.
Sheedy does know what it takes to be successful and to rebuild more than once.

I dunno

far too many questions and one will will never know!!
however sheedy has the record on the board, and has PROVEN over many years that he has been a successful coach and why cant he continue that!!!
