Who are our well known/celebrity supporters?

I hear what you're saying and I've got no problem with people like Rahul Dravid. I doubt he loses much sleep over whether we win or lose but he's new to the game and he didn't previously support another team (or 2) and publicly declare his allegiance to them. Plus he's a perfect fit in terms of our efforts to market the club to the Indian population (which given our mascot etc. I always thought we should've looked at long before we did but better late than never). I'm sure there are better/more recent examples but same goes for when Collingwood signed up Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon.

All I'm really saying is the only thing I really knew about Brigitte Duclos was that she changed from Carlton to Western Bulldogs a few years ago and she was the subject of a bit of scorn for it (not that I'm assuming everyone's in my position). I guess I'm just wondering if it's a bit of an insult to our tens of thousands of loyal, rusted on supporters who've sat through 30 years of crap to just give her a free membership, jumper, cap and whatever else (ok so 'insult' is a bit dramatic...if I could think of a lesser word I'd use it). I do realise how huge this club could be and if we ever actually did anything on the field I know we'd get an army of people signing up as members and going to games who didn't necessarily sit through every minute of every game of the first 9 rounds of 2010 and that would be great. But at least most of them would probably have always been Richmond fans (nominally at least).

Then again I'm sure the club have a team of marketing people working out the pros and cons and if we did actually have some relative success in the near future hearing Brigitte Duclos bask in the success of "her" team (if she hadn't changed again) would be a very nice problem to have...

Except for the last paragraph, you eloquently summed up my thoughts on the topic. Mind you, I have never been a fan of hers. I came across her in her black BMW one day whilst on the road. Her radio stints were as cringeworthy as her ability to operate a car.

Haha well like I said I know nothing about her so chances are I wouldn't be hearing it. Speaking of people who change teams I'd even enjoy hearing Patrick Smith go on about it (not that he would).

She was actually pretty cool at Uni, took an active role in running the orientation weeks and organizing activities to help students feel at home. I ran into her years later when she was semi famous and I was still a nobody and she was happy to smile and say hello. I have no problem with her.

I remember when the block started in Melbourne Scott cam was on the footy show and he said he had picked Richmond to follow in the AFL. Great guy, we should grab him!

Didn't Bridgette duclo's x husband Michael Thompson play a couple of games for the tigers back in the 80's/90's

Not expecting much support here but frankly it wouldn't worry me if it was us. May not have been her finest moment but for crying out loud...

I agree. Really overblown.

But I was thinking of the unwanted attention.

40ish for the Bumblers, then 40ish for us. Think you'll find Duclos' conversion to the Dees happened when she dated Greg Healy

Did anyone know that Russell Crowe is a Richmond supporter? He mentioned it on Twitter.

Pity he's moreseo an NRL guy because we could do with a share of the $$ that he pumps into South Sydney.

Yes he was definietly there in the AFL members reserve. Got to meet him after the match and was very warm to talking to fans from the corprate box. Had the window open and was lucky enough he signed the footy record for me as well.

He loved the way "Sziller" played that day. First saw him as I walked to get some food. Shane Warne was there too and others from Channel 9.

Nobody has mentioned Cat Stevens/ Yousef Islam. Was in the rooms last week, huge. Thats what I call a celebrity supporter. I'd love to see him do an album of Tigers-themed songs:

'I'm looking for a hard-headed backman'
'Remember the days when the tiges were good' (we used to laugh a lot)
'Tigers have woken'
Tiges World'
'Chimp Train'
'Grimes Shadow'

Also applicable:
'Father and son'
'Oh very young'
'I can't keep it in'

I'd buy that.
