Who are our well known/celebrity supporters?

Yeah saw that. I'm probably thinking of the wrong person but who was the one who infamously changed from Carlton to Western Bulldogs a few years back?

That was "our" Brigitte.

She was a Carlton supporter, in 2010 Jeff Kennett tried to woo her to Hawthorn but she decided on the Bulldogs after Wil Anderson jumped out of a plane to convince her.

I've never heard of this lady, but I gather from the RFC website she's a radio personality.

Has it been mentioned here already that Waleed Aly, who does an excellent job on the drive-time shift on Radio National (and often on ABC telly) is a passionate lifetime Tiger supporter? Given Waleed's a leading public face of Australia's muslim community, I wonder if the RFC could be harnassing his considerable talents somehow - especially now Bachar Houli is emerging as the Hasim el Masri of AFL.

We already have. Walked was once Tiger Stripes Dyer.

Didn't I see Sloppy Joe Hockey toss the coin once wearing a tigers scarf? In fact, he might be (shudder.....) the Tigers number one ticket holder...

I think I've seen Abbott and family on tv wearing Tiger scarves - perhaps at last year's Dreamtime game?

So Brigitte Duclos is now a Tiger?
How did that happen? Thought she was with the Scum. Maybe I'm wrong.
Jack presented her with a jumper and Membership. Refer email sent out by the club Tiger Tales Nab2.
All aboard the Tiggie Train! :hihi

Didnt her ex husband play for us at some point? Played for the bombers aswell i think

I'm not all that keen on these fair weather 'celebrity supporters'. Duclos used to follow Carlton, but she's pretty clueless, she once admitted that she thought the CFC device on the jumper was a spider.

Agreed. We really are scraping the bottom of the barrel.

She did an exercise science degree at Vic Uni the same time I did back in the mid 80s. She isn't completely stupid, perhaps she plays it up to get a few laughs.

I am not convinced we are talking mutually exclusive here.

:hihi After reading some of Gina's poetry, I can confirm the existence of air within in her cranium. Reinhardt is solid evidence that dollars don't necessarily equate to sense.

Well there's only one of those things we could do with from her and it ain't the latter.

(Would've thought that was pretty *smile*in' obvious- why else would I want her on board- to re-write the club song? Just to annoy lefties like Brodders17?)

(Well ok maybe that second one would be a nice bonus ;D)

If Gina splashed out on a membership that would be great, just better not tell the offspring or they might get their knickers in a knot.

Thought it might've been. As much as I support anyone ditching Carlton it kinda makes you wonder if she's got the intestinal fortitude to be a tiger...maybe if you changed the colour of the sash it'd be more appropriate for a fairweather like her. Oh well if not I guess she can always change again in 2013 (that's if she makes it through 2012).

I dunno. I know people say it's important to get your brand out there and I've got no problem with celebrity supporters if they're real tigers but I can't help thinking the club may have basically just given away a membership, jumper, cap and whatever else for very little return...

I think one of the theories is that if a Rahul Dravid gets photgraphed in a Richmond jumper, then that photo will appear in sponsor newsletters for Jeep and co. Jeep stick the photo up in the dealerships and potentially might sell 2 extra cars to two Indian cricket fans; which is worth the $100 bucks it cost us for a jumper.

Also a lot of contra-deals. Duclos gets to promote her radio show, we get to promote our club. We spend $100 on jumpers, she makes a comment on air. Win-win for no real money.

I hear what you're saying and I've got no problem with people like Rahul Dravid. I doubt he loses much sleep over whether we win or lose but he's new to the game and he didn't previously support another team (or 2) and publicly declare his allegiance to them. Plus he's a perfect fit in terms of our efforts to market the club to the Indian population (which given our mascot etc. I always thought we should've looked at long before we did but better late than never). I'm sure there are better/more recent examples but same goes for when Collingwood signed up Tim Robbins and Susan Sarandon.

All I'm really saying is the only thing I really knew about Brigitte Duclos was that she changed from Carlton to Western Bulldogs a few years ago and she was the subject of a bit of scorn for it (not that I'm assuming everyone's in my position). I guess I'm just wondering if it's a bit of an insult to our tens of thousands of loyal, rusted on supporters who've sat through 30 years of crap to just give her a free membership, jumper, cap and whatever else (ok so 'insult' is a bit dramatic...if I could think of a lesser word I'd use it). I do realise how huge this club could be and if we ever actually did anything on the field I know we'd get an army of people signing up as members and going to games who didn't necessarily sit through every minute of every game of the first 9 rounds of 2010 and that would be great. But at least most of them would probably have always been Richmond fans (nominally at least).

Then again I'm sure the club have a team of marketing people working out the pros and cons and if we did actually have some relative success in the near future hearing Brigitte Duclos bask in the success of "her" team (if she hadn't changed again) would be a very nice problem to have...
