He made mention of it. Said the universal feedback was he didn’t ask enough questions.

I wouldn't be surprised if he's downplaying it so he's not seen as a tall poppy and also so everyone doesn't go... he was on the verge of being sacked, goes to Harvard, comes back, wins coach of the year and a premiership. Just wondering if the timing adds up, as he's played it down as a non-factor publicly, which is strange.

In that case, how about lose the Bernie?

Fair dinkum Tigerman. Who starts a thread bagging the coach, calling for his head, calling him an undignified name, BEFORE THE SEASON STARTS? Leave that crap to opposition *smile* heads. But, if I've learn't one thing, its that the opposition doesn't have a complete mortgage on *smile* heads. How much of a goose are you!? An irrefuteable, on-the-record goose.

Tigaman not TIGERMAN. Suggest you start a thread & name it "When will Dimma go " & give us some peace on this eloquent thread.

Does anyone know how much Dimma's leadership course at Harvard influenced his change in philosophy? Was it his idea to go? Did the changes begin before he left?

There's a thread on the journo's sub forum touching on this.

Geez, how did I manage to mix those handles up? What an idiot. Apologies to Tigerman, who I'm betting, based on the law of averages, is a pretty good bloke!

Anybody notice the lack of anyone singling out Flypacella for special credit?

The teaser of the new book from the Melbourne game day is very revealing.

It was only Bernie who single handed saw the light & led us to salvation. Amen.

Hardwick smashes his fist on the desk: “Why, why, why are we handballing backwards?”
“Kick it! Kick it! Are you there?” Hardwick yells into the phone. “For the fifteenth bloody time, tell them to kick it!”

Maybe he started reading the PRE game day thread this year?

It goes to show that you can't assume that everything the players do on the field is under instruction from the coaches.

Looking forward to the book. Will be great to get a real look at what goes on behind the scenes rather than the assumptions dressed as facts that have littered this thread over the journey.

I sat in the coaches box for the GC game last year, believe me Dimma was saying the same that day also

It also mentioned this defensive game plan is Beavis’s first and foremost.

Marshall must have seen royalty dollars sky rocketing when the GF final siren went.

I think that the timing is a key factor.
He got the right answers at the right time. As did others.
When he went Hampson and Martin had started showing the results of the mindfulness program.
He came back (?) and Cotchin had come to similar conclusions about himself.

All these leadership type programs at universities now have a big focus on transferring knowledge in business into sports teams.
I noted in the Kennett stories that he said that Clarkson had got a lot from OS courses that the club paid for and endorsed.

The key to me is the change in style of these OS trips.
Coaches have gone to OS sporting clubs for years but they essentially wasted their time.
Go to 5 teams in two weeks and talk to half a dozen people in each 3 day period.
The people they talked to didn't really open up quite rightly about the details of what they were doing because there was really no relationship.
I think Clarkson was one of the first to go over and embed himself at the coalface.
Sit in the back of the room and observe in detail, then ask the right questions.
