Welcome Tyler Sonsie

The forgotten man at the RFC now, who along with Dow are on the fast track to being overtaken by the new draftees before a ball is bounced.

Definitely time for the lad to step up or this will be his last year. Maybe he can play the "Baker Role", pinch hitting in the hff,hbf or stints in the middle.

Would be a dead set bonus for us if he does make it next season
I haven’t given up completely but ‘25 is his last chance saloon

Having some talent is merely the first step. Having the discipline, desperation, commitment n structure to play the game as required by the elite level is an absolute non negotiable.
Thinking Sonz has one last year to show he can step up to the non negotiable's or he's just another almost nearly made its.

Really think he is a bust.
Hangs out the back and watches.
Clear Mitchell at Hawthorn could see issues and did not draft him.
Very disappointing.
I think you might be right.

Given his lack of physicality, he’s extremely outside & unfortunately not very quick. His supposedly elite kicking suffers at AFL level because he doesn’t have explosive pace in an outside role. Stamina not great either.
There’s little desperation or intensity in his game as his fitness isn’t there.
A talented Jnr player who hasn’t transitioned to AFL level. Not the first & definitely won’t be the last.

That said he’s still on the list. Last chance saloon for Tyler.

Seen few pictures of TT and Sonsie on holidays together

TT is a pro when its off season and really builds his fitness and puts in the work , Thinking quietly that sonsie will be on the same program and will come back in ripping condition and ready to take the next step.

Sonsie is best mates with Soligio.
They trained all last summer together.
Soligio comes out and has his best season ever.
Sonsie goes backwards.
I’m suggesting it’s mainly mental. Lack of confidence, introverted and a bit of mismanagement by the club thrown in.
But he is on the slow side and doesn’t have endurance so he’s up against it.

Seems we have a few that are lacking the mental acumen. Sonz.Cumbo, one arm Ryan...............................

Covid years. Those drafts have thrown up some very weird results and I wouldn’t read too much into them.

I still think exposed form, especially against good competition is the best indicator of future success for draftees. If you can’t dominate your peers in u18 how are you going to do well against the very best players from the last 15 odd years at AFL level?
This is why i like Sid Draper so much. he not only has performed at sanfl level but he has toughness can win his own ball has really good pace or explosive off the mark and has sustained pace.
Floats from inside a contest to the outside to win clearances.

Like most of us on here i dont see a lot of kids but i do try to get what i can on those being talked about. A lot of the time that is very little.
So beware what i say.
Draper and Lalor are the two i like because of their athletic traits id be happy with either at pick one. because when fit they have performed.

What i dont like about a couple being spoken about in Langford and Smillie is what is percieved to be a lack of pace.
Maybe im placing too much on this and ignoring other attributes they may bring for the role they may play.
I just think we have Taranto Hopper with McAuliffe who lack that how to say it explosiveness I prefer we go at those who do in an even spread of talent.
Dow and Ross also lack that pace that is needed imo and of course here we all are talking about Sonsie's lack of pace.

I have mentioned this before based on the same assumptions if you like if we take the smaller Draper Fos or Smith and Lalor is gone i would be looking long and hard at Allan at 6 who has great pace and looks a bit of a bull. He would give a real point of differnce to Fos and co.

One kid coming off serious injury is Hotton you can't help but be impressed with his body of work until injury. He is one id be tempted to take an injury punt on at say pick 11 or 18 depending on who is there and the types we have drafted before him.

Looks like he spent most of his off season improving his running. Its his inside work that he needs to fix to make it. Has put on zero size in the offseason i hope this new fitness bloke can turn him around. Between that and its his last year of a contract i hope he finds the drive to make it.

Better footballer then he produced in 2024 , huge question marks that he has what it takes , however he is on the list for another year , he’s young and he has talent so let’s we what we can do to get the most out of him .

Biggest issue I see is lack of confidence in all his footy , skills dropped off , let teammates go for the footy etc etc , so easiest way to get the footy in your hands is to play off half back , along with getting ultra marathon fit I’d like to see him play a bit of half back in practice sessions , take the kick ins , run hard get some easy footy in his hands again and push back into the midfield rotation

As was told to me by another club talent scout. Tyler is one of the most talented junior footballers he had seen but it’s between the ears he struggles. When he was on brilliant, when off he was right off.
