Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

A lot of fun is George, coulda, woulda, shoulda, nearly, almost had a massive game for us last night.
More than happy for George to keep taking the game on the way he does, sometimes he'll click n seriously hurt opposition sides n sometimes he won't but the bastards will never quite know what's coming at them or how to stop it. That's half the battle won before he even touches the ball.

Massively exciting bunch of youngsters roaming around our forward line n there always seems to be a couple of them popping up to put the frighteners up the opposition defence.

Give one example of OTT criticism.
Just the facts. Pity you can't come up with anything to refute the facts at all. No substance to your chatter.
You still believe George's recent form is more valuable to the team than Lamberts. :hihi

The George like game went over your head, unsurprisingly.
Now I await your next troll, as that's all you've ever had. Your usual form, get a post that you think concurs with your view and then quote me directly after it. Typical, cowardly and pathetic.

Pity you can never back anything up with facts or stats, just the usual infantile retort.

Dude enough with all your talk of stats. George runs hard defensively and is a team first player. Important to Hardwick and important to team chemistry.

He takes the game on, as TM just noted. He's a strong, wiry type who can mark on a lead. Which means he can also time a lead.

His evasion is elite. Elite. He's very hard to tackle. He's super quick and has good attacking instincts. He never stops trying. He looks to score assist as first option. He's got a ripping attitude and clearly loves the club.

Most of all, George is an impact player. As a small forward, numbers will be up, numbers will be down. But something usually happens when he's near the agate.

Not the most scientific analysis but that's why I love George.

He had 2 very bad kicks,If these kicks had off been good everybody here would have been blowing smoke up his a55 and telling us how great he was when it counted - But he didnt kick them so we read crap

20 year old kid from the rookie list thats making a good fist of things & Things will turn for him and will blow a game apart 1 day , Just think to your self if you were a backman - Would you want or feel comfortable with Castagna 5 mtrs away from you and your chasing the ball or have the ball in possession ?

Alot of backman are very nervous and are making mistakes because of him - I like it

I'm more then happy with George on the list and think his been vital in our new style of play, however you've got to give up something to get something and at this point, we lack quality talls and have an abundance of small forwards and if one was to go to help achieve landing a tall , I'd have George on the table before the other smalls

Sure, what do you think you'd get for a 10 game, 1 year player on the fringe of the team though? Maybe a late pick? The trade talk is nonsense. He either stays on our list or is delisted - no one is trading for him. He's shown enough to stay on the list, so he will be at Richmond for a bit yet.

I don't think it's nonsense Hutstar. Small forwards are at a premium now, largely due to the way we play and it only takes one club to be intrested in said player . Last year we got Nank for a pick near 50, I'm tipping there's a ruck out there who would be surplus at a club that we could use and that club may well need a small forward. Again more then happy for George to stay, however we need to fills some holes on the list .

Keep all our small forwards, it's the modern game.

Most will remain cheap/good value due to the inherent inconsistency of their role.

He creates chaos as much for his teammates as he does for the opposition. He also can't kick. Still can't understand why he's in the team. And talk of trading him is absurd. He wouldn't get a pick in the 90s.

He might come good but I doubt it. His instincts are rubbish. Every time he gets the pill, he braces for impact even if he is metres in the clear.

Just for the record. Castagna has played 19 games to date.
Early days.

I've seen him make a lot of similar mistakes when he's playing in the VFL. He's a very untidy player. I'm not sure those skill errors are going to be eradicated any time soon.

Agree. Clumsly, plays wet weather football in perfect dry conditions.
His kicking is toooo unreliable.

**when he got pushed in the back in the last qtr, (40 metres out), I didn't care the umpire didn't pay it. He would've missed.
He had 2 horrendous kicks in the last qtr. the so called snap that bounced out and then one running direct to goals he some how kicked it out of bounds

This is his 3rd year. Has he shown any improvement from his VFL form?
He s been played forward and back. I'm sure we have the back role covered. Up forward with Edwards, Rioli, Butler, Bolton and Stengel all looking to have a fair bit more nous and skill where does that leave him. I doubt he could play mid, we know Sheds does take a turn there, maybe a couple of the others, but not sure George has any composure or the ability for a centre playing mid.
He's a reacter. Like a fizzy drink. Hits a quick high with an abundance of energy, then goes missing for long periods of the game.
Can he be reinvented if he doesn't have much of an impact in games, or do you think this his limit, what you see is what you get?

God knows how he didn't score with the second one.

I fear he's a player that could cost us a finals win.

George was absolutely *smile* rorted by that non call and so were we.
