Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

Like George as he does not mind getting his hands dirty. Kicking for goals well he was not the only one that shanked it today but at least he got into a position to have shot.

Was better than butler and Rioli today but arguably cost us the game with those 2 misses.

Really? Nankervis cost us with 2 of the easiest misses ul see in 2017, both 20-25 meters out pretty much directly in front...
That goal in the first few mins of last qtr had he nailed that we wouldve gone 19 points up, puts seed of doubt into the opposition, he misses and they in with a sniff.

Needs to have a few hundred set shots for goal after training with fatigue. From all angles and distances.

He's not a natural so it's an absolute must he takes his chances.

Similar stats. But. No surprise disposal efficiency the killer. Castagna at 55%. Butler at 70%. Rioli at 70%

Shhhh barren will make an appearance asking you if you georges autograph ;D

9 disposals (6k & 3h) at 56% DE, 1 goal 2 behinds. Terrible, terrible kick.

He keeps getting opportunities but hasn't taken them. Still has done more than butler (on most measures this year) and especially yesterday yet most are calling for his head.

A fine line between the kudos he would have had if he kicked the goal against GWS and the 2 he missed yesterday.

But that's just it, he ISNT kicking them because he's a terrible kick. If he were a better kick he would've kicked them and we'd be lauding him as a gun.

I like Georgie but have to admit that his kicking for goal is killing us ATM.

Let him get some touch in the VFL and bring Stengle in.

But do you drop the guy creating opportunities or the guy that isn't getting it?

If you're referring just to 1 game you'd drop the guy who isn't getting them. But if you're referring to the context of the season or even their career you drop the guy who's a terrible kick.

Did more than Butler yesterday, only just.

On most measures this year? Highly doubt it. Not the ones that count.

Kudos if you get it done. Brickbats if you don't. Guess what he got. No surprise there.
He's been tracking that way for the last 8 weeks. I can't tabulate it, but here is a link to his performances

Averaging less than 6 efficient disposals per game. Read it again SIX. Less than 10 disposals a game and he stuffs up nearly half of them. He is a butcher. If he is what you call a success, you're easily pleased.
George is the "accidental footballer"

I'd drop him too. I know I'm labouring the point, but can someone teach him a set shot goalkicking routine, please? Anyone?

Big difference to creating opportunities and getting opportunities MD.
George doesn't create many, check his GA or any other "measures" you like. But he sure as hell misses quite a few opportunities he gets. Pity he's missed quite a few dead in front from 30 out. Momentum killers.
(Not on his lonesome there. But this is the castagna thread)

* note* while acknowledging he has kicked 2 nice goals on 45deg+ angles.
