Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

Stil does my head in....doesn't do enough of the things a footballer should do well at this level but I just have to concede he is part of the beautiful big picture.

Probably still played under 50 games. At 100games, those half chances will convert.

Frustrating for now, but likely to be a 200 game, multiple premiership player

He is doing alright for a speedy battler- he is part of the not so secret formula

2nd Round rookie pick and a Premiership winning life member of Richmond. I wish I was as sh!t as he was.

Must get better in front of goal.

His conversion from set shots is *smile* house and often kills momentum at key times its my biggest bugbear with him.

It is a concern because the rest of his game is great and this is constructive criticism coz I love watching him play.
Watched his set shot towards PRE last night to make sure he didn't go too close to bloke on the mark and he got that right. But the kick still went too high and didn't get the distance or accuracy anyway from 40 odd metres
Even another snap shot (maybe last Qtr?) went further up in the air than towards goal and missed anyway.
Would add an extra dimension to his value to the team if he could be more reliable with his kicking.

I got to the ground quite early last night and a few of the boys were out on the ground having a kick. He stayed out later than most and was practising his set shots from different angles on the 50m line at the city end and he was making the distance but accuracy was about 2/3 goal 1/3 miss. What I did notice at the time is that he has bugger all momentum in his run up. He walks in about three steps has a half pause and then a very slow 3 or 4 step jog just faster than walking pace before he tries to kick it 50m. What is it with these kids, just need to have a bit more speed and long enough to get balanced. If he had a bit more speed on his run up I think he would kick quite a few more.

I recall seeing David Rhys-Jones starting out at South Melbourne and he could not kick the ball more than 30m and no higher than Nanks Head. He then obviously got some coaching on his technique and put some work in and became one of the best kicks I have seen in the game. So imo players can be coached to kick the ball properly, sh!t look at the Irish players.

Good post. He appears to obsessed about accuracy rather than getting that momentum, always appears to be steering them form 40 plus. He's much better on the snap or run usually.

Love what he brings though, that pace really does cause all sorts of panic.

Both the snap and the set shot were in Q2 - just watched replay

This one is on him. Cost us the game.

His erraticness was going to cost us one day and that day is here.
