Welcome to Tigers: Jason Castagna

He and Butler only registered 3 tackles each. Unacceptable. Can live without the goals if they are bringing the pressure... without that they provide very little.

These guys (Butler, Castagna, Higgins) are still just kids. Rotation time, 2 of Stengle, Higgins or Bolton in and rest Butler and George.

Castagna has averaged 3.2 tackels this year, Butler 3.1. Last year Castagna was right on 3, Butler 3.61. It's not the tackles that is the important measurement of the pressure they are bringing in the forward line but the pressure acts. Last game Butler had 49 (within his average range) which was second most for the team but Castagna only 21 (well below his average range). Definitely something was amiss with Castagna.

shouldn't have played last week, in saying that he has had a great year to date and is an important player for our team ....

hearing he might me out for a couple of weeks !

Better only be 1 week out or they definitely erred playing him last week when he was clearly still struggling with a knee injury.

Too early for that. He'll have only played 1 1/2 games max by then and probably less as he might only play 3 quarters tomorrow.

Yep wishful thinking I'd say. Was clearly very rusty in his first hitout and undoubtedly lack of a pre-season and match fitness will be an issue. Personally I'd like to see him build over the next 3 or 4 weeks before considering him for the 1sts.

Pretty sure it's been said often by the players and the fitness staff that they load plenty of extra work into the players n then taper them a bit before they bring them back from long term injuries. Players coming back are fit enough, it's more the match touch n the in play impact they're missing on game day. Game n a half or two games would generally be enough to bring a player back through.

Nothing duplicates match fitness. Was pretty clear in first game back that Rioli was short of a couple of runs. Secondly you have to have the form to break back in. Rioli had 3 disposals in half a game and gave away 2 free kicks. Have only been watching 2nd half of today's game and last play he was in he was beaten to the ball. Interested in opinions of others who saw the first half.

Got better as the game went on. Not afraid to get dirty unlike his mate butler
