Welcome to Tiger land Riley Collier’Dawkins

His form line this year is worrying.
Weird and worrying.
Any chance the VFL development program and coaching is not quite where it needs to be?

Said this before about RCD but he is essentially the same player he was in u18. Averages mid-teen disposals, good at clearances, occasional explosive burst that excites but overall not involved enough in general play.

Probably only behind Martyn in order of who gets delisted first. Yet, somehow may survive into a fifth year depending on retirements and trades this year.

Riley is the continuation of a long and unfortunate recruiting tradition at Richmond of drafting “midfielders” that are not really midfielders. Hope we can finally start to correct this.
The 'Clayton's' midfielder
It's a pity we don't have a midfielder called Clayton Oliver

they have tried Mansell in the forward line in the 2s

maybe RCD needs to be tried elsewhere?

cue jokes... which club? etc.. but seriously, could they find a different position for him?

half back is his only position, been saying it for a while. unfortunately we dont need half backs.

Probably too late now with Bauer but have thought he could be a mid size forward. Has a burst of speed, just not able to sustain it as a mid.

Unfortunately, the covid impacted footy of the last few years wouldve impacted a project player like RCD more than other ready made draftees. Was always going to be a few years off when he was drafted, but there was no way known anybody couldve predicted the lack of continuity in footy since then

Jack Graham arrived at Punt Rd aged 18 going on 30. Riley was 18 going on 14.

But that was four years ago. The haircut says he knows he needs to get serious. But does he know how? Maybe we should billet him out to Jake King for a while.

I'm not sure why he's taking a turn in the ruck. Is it to toughen him up? If not, prefer Street do it if need be. Hopefully neither now that Mate should be playing.

Might well be to a degree considering the coaches that the RFC has lost over the past few seasons.

That said the kid hasn't really seemed progress a great deal over time, and that's not all just just a lack of development especially during such an era of dominance with such dominant stars around him to show him and teach him.

If you cant improve after spending 3- 4 seasons training and working alongside Cotchin, Martin, Lambert, Prestia, Edwards and Houli as a ball winner and carrier it's looking pretty dire.

Throw in other pro's to learn from such as Dave, JR8, Grimes, Nank, Short, Tigga and Broad over the time its not very flattering.

Now there's some hard core development :mhihi

I still think RCD might have a future.

He was coming from a long way behind as a midfielder and he hasn't come on. That can happen. It was a huge challenge against all imaginable odds.

But he's a big lad and can get moving on the rare occasions that he knows where to run and why. The big white sticks. They don't move. Riley knows that. And he showed a little when we moved him forward against the Bees.

Sure. He was disappointing last time Dimma tried that in the ones. But he gets *smile* all development in the only role he's ever looked comfortable in.

We think we need a mobile semi tall forward who can catch and has ground game so we recruited Bauer (who was ok on debut).

RCD should get an extended go forward IMO. Get ball. Big white sticks. If not get ball accidentally hurt midget. No, their midget, Riley.
Simple instructions and a bit of licence can only help. And a goal can give the youngster a much needed confidence boost.

An easier challenge. A little win. Something realistic.

He deserves this chance before the season ends. There might be something there if the club can only get over a bizarre prejudice about his aptitude.

As much as we all want it to not be a duck, if it looks like a duck, walks like a duck and quacks like a duck, then it just may be a duck.

We have several ducks in our 2's that should be transitioned on at years end.

Has RCD every taken an overhead mark in the forward line against an opponent?
Rhetorical question. Answer is no.
New kid last week showed more in his first ever VFL game.
Think RCD is a very tall small.
But he’s no McJesus
