Welcome to the Tigers Marlion Pickett!

Good to see Willie Rioli sticking up for Marlion, although likely going to get him in hotter water than he already is.

I haven't seen the Instagram post, but have seen it quoted in the WA Sunday Times.

I share Willie's frustration with the football industry.
What.did he say?

Should just appeal and claim he was momentarily dazed due to being struck just prior. .... No chance it works but at least the *smile* press will have to show the Bailey hit and maybe one of them will stick their chin out and ask the question. .... what... not even a free kick?

Absolutely nothing in it. No lasting impact on the other mongrel. Free kick nothing more.

Challenge it. Then give the blokes behind the table a harder version of what you just got off of.

If the umpire gave Marlion the free kick, the second action wouldn't of happened. Strange how some players get it easy and some have to work their rings out to get a free.

When's the last time someone got suspended for striking with their bicep?

Excellent point. A shocking mistake (or deliberate error) made by the umpire lead to Marlion’s infringement. We have great grounds to appeal this given that Bailey basically did the same thing and didn’t even have a free kick paid. If we don’t appeal this I will be very surprised and quite frankly disappointed.

Exactly what happened back in the day with Vickery and that sniper Dean Cox. Ty gets punched in the guts leading up to a boundary throw in, no whistle, then as the ball is thrown in whacks Cox and gets 4 weeks. Wouldn't have happened if the ump was doing is job properly and awarded the free to Ty.

Absolutely right. Connecting with him when he was off the ground, pushed his body in the air and ensured he would likely hit his head on the ground. But not even looked at but Pickett (who hit him in the chest) is given a week.

As farcical as when Soldo was rubbed out for a week a few years ago.

I remember that one:

The trouble is that the AFL won't consider that a very similar incident occured not 5 seconds earlier. The only difference I can see between the incidents is that Pickett got an arm around his head, whereas looking at the photo above the Brisbane player was hit on left shoulder and chest.

Why the guy who coathangered Pickett didn't get a penalty I don't know. Plus, the Brisbane player Pickett ran into should be cited for staging. Yeah he got hit, but he wasn't shot which is how he went down.

Haven't listened to SEN this morning, was this report mentioned at all?
