Welcome to the Tigers Jacob Hopper

Great news for everyone - with perhaps the exception being Samson who might have climbed a spot in the pecking order had Soldo gone.

But I have expectations for Samson - and having at least one more season to build behind Nank and Soldo could actually benefit him in the longer term. Meanwhile he should get games next year anyway.

What no. for Dennis?
Can't access 2.
Interesting.
Quentin can slide into 14 if he wishes to keep same no.
Well done to recruiting team.
Really rapt to get both and not lose big Ivvy.
What's is our first draft pick now as it stands? 40's?

Brilliant stuff. Welcome Jacob, can't wait to see you lining up next to Cripps in rd 1 next season.

I wonder what the hold up was?
They probably wanted to see what PRE descended into the the closer it got to the deadline, and then decided they didn't have that level of cruelty in them.

Its a sensational deal.
Im sure we will back this up by picking off a couple of disgruntled young talls as we go forward.
Now to get everyone fit and hungry.
2023.....its on.

To be fair I reckon with how well we did the Taranto trade they were going to wait and see what they ended up with pick's wise (Sh!t loads), and were going to give something decent back. We have a good Reputation in trading unlike Dildoro.

And don't forget their new coach may have helped a bit ;)

We all know this because GWS have indicated a willingness to let him go despite the fact that he was a 1st round pick who has lived up to expectations and is widely considered to be within their best 6-8 players, AND he is on a high salary which the RFC have had to offer to meet, or better, before it can expect him to indicate a wish to be traded, which he has done.

GWS don’t want to give up such a player unless there is a reason.

a) Serious career threatening injury? Not that we know of.

b) Nearing the limit of TPP and his present salary or next salary does or is likely to put too much pressure on, if he stays at the club? Very possibly GWS is reputed to have 5-6 (other) players on salaries near $1,000,000 pa!

c) Want to reinvest his salary in a different sort of player, a KPP or Ruck or whatever?
Possibly, they have quite a bit invested in midfielders.

My point is that b) and c) amount to an attempt to get the player off the list to ensure that his money is retained for another purpose.
It is a salary dumping exercise no matter how you look at it.

Well Posh, Tortured and crew you have got it right.

Clearly the gathering of 1st rounders and the trade up for pick 1 by GWS is going to bring about a serious adjustment of their list.
I maintain that such a re-adjustment, with funds and picks coming in for top ranked players is one aspect of a salary dumping exercise, as I explained in my post at part c) above, but that doesn’t matter now.

Although not too happy with giving up our F1, like you, very happy to welcome these 2.
