Welcome to the Tigers - Connor Menadue

Rumour is Menadue offered a 3 year contract with Norf. Heard this from a work colleague with an inside source at norf

3 years at what? $45.50
Hasn't shown anything in a team sitting on the top of the ladder. He should be like Issac Smith, but he plays more like Issac Newton.
Let him go.
Straight swap for Wood

I hope Menadue stays, just needs to put on another half a dozen kg's and get a bit more of the ball.

It will be really interesting what we do at trade / delisting / draft time.

We have lost 2 already, we had max 40 on the main list this season. We need to make a call on Chol / Moore, if we keep both on they essentially replace Griff and Hampson. So we need to free up at least 2 spots in the draft with our first 2 picks plus more if we trade or get Lynch as a free agent.

We'll obviously try to flog Miles / Lloyd. Drummond may find himself on the outer (but he was always very highly rated) which brings us to Menadue, Ellis and then older players like Grigg (who for me will get another year).

Menadue is in our top 25ish. He's understudy to Houli, KMac, Ellis and Short and at least has the potential to grow into a place when Grigg hangs them up. I rate him, I think he can be a very good player. And teams are coming for him, so I would sign him asap.

Agree. I still think he will step up and make it at AFL level. We need to persevere with him, give him a run of games. Not blame him and other young players for a loss and cut them. Other clubs don't react so harshly; don't expect so much from them every game. They need time to learn, adapt and integrate into the much faster, harder and more complicated tactical environment of AFL.

The fact Norf see his potential, that speed and running ability, can break the lines, kick running goals. Damn Norf. We selected him; we developed him.

While he doesn't get the pill much clearly you have not watched him much. Kicking is high quality and he is the logical replacement for Houli along with Markov. Keen to keep and would be happy with a 3 year deal.

good comparison. Isaac Smith was playing VFL at the same age.

Huge difference Isaac smith was dominating in the VFL. For a bloke coming out of the VFL he went top 20 in a draft. That was unheard of back then.

it would be interesting to compare VFL stats. Menadue is regularly racking up 20+ in a side that does not play a high possession game.

There will be a place open up for him if he can grab it with Houli and Grigg near to retirement but it won't just happen for him either he has to earn it.
Does he want to play for a league power club and playregularly at the MCG in front of 70+ k crowds or does he want to play at Etihad in front of 20k.

Since going back to VFL he's had:
26 disposals, 6 tackles, 0.3 v Northern Blues.
23 disposals v Box Hill today and named 4th best.

Responded well. Manfred on the website:

With the Hawks just edging the Tigers in the clinches, Shai Bolton, Liam Baker and Connor Menadue were thrust from the frying pan into the fire, sparking their side in the second half.

Ivan Soldo got on top of Marc Pittonet, which brought Bolton, Baker and Menadue into the game.

The trio were sharp, clean and zipped through congestion to kick-start the Tigers run-and-carry game, as they torched the Hawks on the outside.

...

Connor Menadue’s drive and penetrating right-boot were telling, but it was his work in the contest and that shone brightest.
