Welcome to the Tigers - Connor Menadue

Been a fan and never lost faith.

Nothing like old mate Spook though.

He's schooled everyone on here with his knowledge again!!

22 possessions. Finally got to more contests. Definitely the breakout performance we've been looking for.

Everyone gets a free pass from that win.

Doesn't change the long term forecast on Menadue.

One sparrow does not make a summer. After five years, one B+ game doesn't get you a free pass for the next three years.

Back it up or it counts for very little. That's his challenge.

very true.

last week, we had no depth, no ticker, a lot of passengers and our season was in tatters.

This week, its sign Connor on a 4 year deal and we might have to delist Cotchin and Rance to make way for the emerging talent.

a weeks a long time in football, an eternity on PRE

It was better than a B+ game and its a bit hard to impress when you get dropped more often than a Hollywood actresses panties.

It was B+, and Harvey Weinerstein is dead

Very true, but its a start. Its probably one of the few things in life where I dont mind being wrong is judging players.

Agree it was an A grade game. Also think it shows Menadue has the potential to be an AFL player confirmed. We know now he has the talent to pull it off.
What we don't know is if he has the mental toughness and desire to be an AFL player. That will come if he can keep it going.

Continuity please, from selectors and Connor.

Superb

Yep it was, not just on statistics and numbers, He showed poise, decision making, smarts like no other senior game before. It was brilliant to watch over the entire game. He showed he belonged and now needs to show why he should not be displaced. If this type of form continues it gives Dimma the option to play him as a genuine wing, work at the back with Houli as a rebounding half back, allow the wonder kid in Stack to follow the ball more. Back it up Connor, more of that please.

No, that is quite true. One sparrow just makes a common winter visitor to a garden.

Mind you, given the Australian swallows don't really migrate, that would imply Menadue has always been as he is now.

Therefore I will infer you mean't "One muttonbird does not make a Menadue"

One game Leysy, albeit an incredibly important one. Lets hope it instils the confidence to develop into a real contributor.

Yep. One to keep an eye on now. I'll be looking forward to watching the replay tonight on how he played.

At least we now know for certain that Connor can indeed play at the level required. He'll still have some bumps n troughs at times over the next season or two, but he's taken the big step of proving he's got enough to be a good senior player. Needs to build on yesterdays base.

Superb

don't get me wrong, he played a very good game.

But its pretty loose use of A-grade IMHO.

Maybe I'm a hard marker, but I would have only rated $hai as an A grade out of the 22 last night.

If each player is assessed on his merits

Just thought the key to the win, was about 10 of them played B+ and 10 played B.

There were no C's or D's

edit: on reflection, I'd probably give Bachar an A too

I gave Prestia and Caddy a "C".
Caddy had an interrupted preseason so gets latitude but not sure what has happened to Prestia the last couple of weeks. Needs to win at least one centre clearance

I wouldn't argue that.

pretty good when you have 6 premiership KPP's out, 2 playing 'C grade' games,

and you win comfortably.

Connor vindicated his supporters. And himself. IMO he looked ok in the Footscray debacle but for his intermittent presence. And he corrected that the next week.

Lookin good.
