Welcome to Richmond - Jayden Short

Been very poor lately. Struggles with any sort of heat around the contests, goes to ground way too easily and his hands are very sloppy and slow in tight. Whenever he does get the ball he panics and dump kicks it anywhere. He's lost the main strength he brought to the midfield which was to zip around packs to run and receive and provide outlet options to team mates. He's just not doing this any more.
I would drop him for Ross.
We can hide him in the back half with Rioli Baker and some others but we need more players to stand up and work for a living.

Perfect candidate for a trade out but knowing us we will get offered pick 45.
Our players in the open market aren't viewed highly.
Adelaide was going to offer Collingwood a first rounder for Maynard.
Graham?

Just been re-signed. I agree, otherwise would have been a compelling trade candidate.

Maybe if they played Shorty off HB he’d regain his form
Agree.
Players are being thrown all over the place.
The Gibcus fwd experiment is prime example.
We squeezed a goal when desperate late in a game so it than becomes a 3 week experiment ending with him completely devoid of confidence and back in the twos .
Shorty off half back is a weapon. Laser like deliveries 50 to 60m away.

The reason players have got thrown all over the place is by necessity not choice, that’s why I am not critical of it.
Shorty got thrown in the midfield along with Bakes because we had to try something, our midfield was not good enough and still isn’t.
The reason Balta and Gibcus have been thrown forward was because we lost our two back ups in one offseason and then Lynch was injured
These are list profiles that have to be fixed.
Sometimes I feel supporters criticise the coach for not doing enough and then when he does try things out of necessity criticise him when they don’t always work out. ( general comment not directed at you)
Shorty to the middle was worth a go, I’m not sure it’s a bust because early on he was very good.

Yeah I get that.
I agree he was excellent early on in the middle but it kills us having him dump kick out of packs rather than rebound off half back and laser into fwd 50.

His best role is definitely off half back. The problem is we also have Tigga, Rioli and Bakes who are elite half back flankers plus another first round draftee in Tom Brown.

I think Bakes is the best bet as a midfielder/forward as he can win his own ball. I think Shorty like Tigga is just better in the backline and we should play him there.

Has gone back to half-back and cost 3 goals. Awful quarter.
