Welcome Sam Naismith

would rather we grabbed some healthy 25 or 26
I think the club would ideally do that, it seems there isn't any and as such Naismith is the best option available. I reckon he will acquit himself well as insurance provided he's injury free.

We need a sound back up ruck who has experience and durability should Nanks or even Ryan goes down injured so hope the club know what they are doing

Naismith has played a total of 30 AFL games between 2014-2022 (9 seasons)
In that time he’s had 3 knee reconstructions Not confident he’ll stand up to rigours of AFL

Me neither, hence the "injury free" comment. It's for one year as insurance on a minimum wage and demonstrated he played throughout the season in the vfl at a high standard. Naismith being the best available says more about his competition than he himself IMO.

Had a knee reco in 21 after the 20 version didnt graft.
He's now had a full season to prove that this one is fine.
So it sounds like the 2 knees are OK. Not a massive risk for another reco.

As for standing up to the rigours of the AFL, he's in good position.
He's at the right age for rucks - solid and strong.
Plus he hasnt been worn down by playing 100+ games.
So overall he should be ready.

The benefit on Naismith is he will be fresh.
In his words
"I don't have busted hands, fingers and shoulders so I feel like that might be an ace up the sleeve coming into the next couple of years."

I think I am right in saying that Naismith is probably the reason Nank left the swans.
He was picked in 2016 ahead of Nank and the swans played one ruck and Tippett as a ruck/forward
Ironic

yep, Swans chose Naismith as their #1 ruck over Nank.
Then Nank left and the rest as we know it is blissful history

Marking? He’s got NFI goes through many VFL games not taking a single mark
That’s a major problem.
Is it because he doesn’t get to the contest
or because he doesn’t know where the ball is going to drop?
