Welcome Sam Naismith

Sam will be a good addition to the club and great for the younger boys and looks like he likes to be a mature mentor
Happy to have Sam at the club and hope he has a great 2-3 years
I like how he called Steely Green out for being lazy by just handing out pineapples to his family for Xmas. Character.

Probably a better option than Ryan Sampson at this stage.

I know I mentioned this 4-6 weeks ago, but I believe Ryan will play most of his footy this year in the 2's, working on dominating. He should spend some time in the gym with Naismith too, build his rig to look like Sam's.

Naismith IMO beat Gawn when they've been manned up together. Gawn was all over Ryan due to the difference in strength but Naismith is a different option. Reckon we play with both he and Nank in the team.

Simply a tapping machine. Not just random taps either, with purpose. Big big advantage in the middle if can give the mosquito fleet silver service.

Second and third efforts after the tap is what I’m loving. Huge presence

Some on here were so down on his recruitment and thought he should play second fiddle to Ryan in the Magoos.
Amazing how two quarters of football can completely change people’s perspective.
If his body holds up, he should play in tandem with Nanks and just physically dismantle opposition ruck divisions.

Has a lethal boot on him too for a ruck.
Can seriously launch it

Is it irony (probably not the right word) but - to think that 8 years ago, the Swans chose him over Nank, pushing Nank out. Here we are, now, they’re again playing side by side, but Nank’s had 3 premierships and is captain, while Sam’s had an injury-riddled career down to the VFL then a lifeline for the twilight of his playing days. What a career he could have had! The fates are fickle.

TBH if he played 2's, he probably would be playing 2nd fiddle to Ryan as our focus on the 2's is development, but the points moot as he'll be playing in the AFL not the VFL. We didn't recruit him to play VFL ruck.

Hater.

But I agree.

Good shout. But will we be too top heavy?

At the very least we play them against teams like Melbourne with dominant ruck divisions.
So think it will probably be a match up thing.
But gee he looks tough and seasoned. If he plays like it could be his last game, he’ll do some serious damage to opposition

Naismith is perfect for when we play teams with tall dominant rucks.

Much like the way we utilised Soldo.

Nank bashes them and wears them out then Sammy dominates them.

Our number 1 ruck option
Nakas can't jump and gets destroyed by real ruckman & Sampson AKA Griffens is no good.
play Sampson in the 2's till he starts plucking marks and learns how to win a tap out.

Went alright the big Crawdad. Will be an interesting watch during the season, to see if the body holds up and if he can have the same input to games when it's all full on AFL games for points.
