Welcome Sam Banks

Another Tasmanian player to represent RFC.

Be good to get Nank, Jack, Mansell, Banks and Campbell playing playing together but the planets will be unlikely to align.
Whats the most number of Tassos to play in the same vfl/afl side?

Jack Riewoldt offering a bit of support and inspiration to Sam Banks and the Tasmanian junior side in 2015. Tonight the two run out together, onto the MCG in the same team.

Obviously an emotional attachment for myself and other Tasmanians. But the Tasmanian state jumper is so simple and traditional looking, yet such a cracking design.

Not sure. Although I remember Collingwood had around 7 or 8 on their list for a couple of seasons in the late 80s-early 90s (an era when Tasmania put competitive State of Origin sides on the park). Doubt they all played in the same side in any given week though.

At a guess, and without checking playing timelines, the sort of players that would come into scope would have been:

Graham Wright;
Doug Barwick;
James Manson;
Heath Shephard;
Paul Williams;
Colin Alexander;
Bradley Plain

Maybe one or two others.

Second only to the Big V when it comes to state jumpers.

Got to say, most of them are pretty good. And should be good reminders to any designers of footy jumpers, attempting to reinvent the wheel with cringy, tacky, cheesy modern designs, as to how a footy jumper should look.

As we say TAS and VIC great jumpers - albeit we shall agree to disagree on which is the superior :) . I love the WA one that is yellow with the black swan (as opposed to the black sash on yellow - not bad, but prefer the Swan). SA isn't too bad.

Of the less traditional footy states, the one QLD seems to have arrived on looks great (all maroon, with a white stylised "Q" on the front). I remember as a kid seeing them play in a maroon and white jumper with a maroon sash. Plus have seen them in a Port Adelaide jail bars looking jumper in maroon and white. Neither were too bad, but the current one (inspired by their earliest iterations), they should never change.

Get. Him. Out of the backline and give him a chance to get some touches up the ground

Congratulations on your debut, but you're not ready son.

Have a big preseason and see you in 2024.
Of course not judging on debut, but initial thoughts looks a bit slow and ordinary defensive intensity. Hopefully just nerves and picks up pace in 2nd half

Incredibly disappointing first half.

Hope he adjusts to the pace of AFL rapidly.

I don't mind the skill errors, that's an entire team trait, but he looks timid at the contest. Not good.

The worst half of footy any player has played in any game this year.

It looks like he's suprised the Sherrin is an oval.
