Welcome Josh Gibcus

Our team kept Melbourne to their 2nd lowest score in their winning streak

Lowest was in WA

Melbourne kept itself to that score through poor kicking for goal. If they’d kicked straight it would have been one of their highest scores in their streak

Looks like Gibbo's gonna miss the Rising Star nominee due to Jack Ginnivan as the definite winner this week.

At least there's other weeks for him. Given all the talented kids we've had, we only won this with Lids in 2005.

You don’t need rising star winners, just nominations. Good players get nominated. The fact we haven’t had a nomination since 2019 speaks volumes to our recruiting.

Bakes, Stacky and Bolts all in 2019 when we win a GF but Sam Walsh wins from a club who did nothing for 15 seasons.

Shorty giving Barry a huge wrap on RFC website.
Says he wants to be the very best player he can be

Just like Bolts in the 29, let's hope Gibbo retains the 28 and becomes our best 100+ game player since Pushup.

Yes, because your very likely to draft a Rising Star from late first round picks that barely see a game due to us being a Premiership contender and COVID. Be realistic.

Dusty would have walked it in, but he had a warning for rough play.

Our last three rising star nominations were Bolton (2nd round pick), Baker (rookie draft) and Stack (rookie) all in 2019.

They got no easy clear shots. We made sure entries were mostly wide and shallow. Low percentage stuff. The loss wasn’t the back lines fault.

You can make the argument, it could have been better, but I reckon thats a stretch. Sure we all wish our 2 late first rounders taken during that period, RCD and Dow were better, and traded our 20 first rounder,, but I reckon it speaks volumes for the AFLs equalisation policies more so than our recruiting.

Also worth considering that other teams draft good players too.
18 teams, 22 rounds (less in 2020)
No surprises on the number of noms

We don't have to win everything. Just the :cupgold

our list is headed towards KPF armageddon.

lynch and riewoldt look shot.

we may not like it, but Gibcus may be required forward in the latter half of 2022 and certainly in 2023.

watch this space for sure.

I don't think its as bad as you say in that Gibcus will be moved forward, but this is why Balta will remain forward this season IMO.

I'd be staggered if he played KPF this season. We're already experiencing a topsy turvy season from a recently moved Balta, the MC aren't going to double down.

Didn't say it wasn't possible for late picks to get a nomination.

Late picks generally need more development put into them. This takes time. That's not likely to happen in a side contending for premierships.

Bolton was drafted for 2017 season.
Baker drafted 2018.
These guys took longer to develop and be AFL quality.
Stack 2019. Was touted as a high pick thanks to his talent, but behaviour caused him to fall. Was probably closer to being ready from a pure talent irrespective than most u18 kids.

Now we're looking at Gibcus, who's a top 10 pick, and him being potential for a nomination in his first year. See the pattern?

Balta may or may not prove to be a bust up forward.

If Balta goes back and there aren’t injuries in D50 it’s possible.
