Welcome Josh Gibcus

On a night where Smelbourne were smashing ball into their forward line at will, young Gibber stood up like he owned the place. Gunna be some fluctuations in his first couple of seasons purely because he's a youngster n learning his craft, but by hell the kids got some serious poise n skill.

My future backline has a Nyuon in it. Leave Balta up forward.

Don’t care what the rest of the round produces - that’s the Rising Star winning performance by JG.

Is Biggie really likely to make it as good AFL key back? Limited viewing of him, but I’m dubious

The resting of him was totally unnecessary. Should play the rest of the year.

Footskills what impressed me the most. Was really sound.

Breakout game. Think he ends up a Jeremy Howe type at worst.

Love to see it, but he won’t get it. Wears the wrong jumper. Remember when Shai missed the nomination because Brad ‘Idiot Grin’ Johnson didn’t even watch the game?

I saw young Gibbo after the game and told him he had the rising start nomination in the bag for this week. He was suitably humble too.
Cal Toomey also thought so in his match report.

Great game last night. Should get a rising star nomination from it. Would be our first since 2019 if it happened too.

To me, Gibcus highlights the vast different in quality between someone taken in the top 10 versus someone taken in the top 20 of the draft. Reckon we’ll get another shot at a top 10 pick this year and we need to make it count.

Unreal first five games.
Along with Vlaustin, probably our best kick in the side.
Let that sink in.
His field kicking is sublime.
A real weapon. Surgically cutting through swathes of players and hitting targets on the chest from 50m.
Wow.

They must be nobbling young Gibbo already ;) , did you hear his post draft proclamation of watch out key forwards of the competition I'm here and I'm coming for you , nothing humble about that :ROFLMAO:

We’ll never know if we don’t give him the opportunity. With Vlastuin and Broad down back, do we really need Tarrrant’s ‘experience’? He can stink it up in the VFL and Biggy and Gibbo can get the chance to develop a partnership.

Great game by Gibcus last night.

Tarrant has been disappointing. He is too slow to fit into our backline, always seems to be trailing his man. The defenders around him are always confused when he is not where he should be. That was never something that happened consistently with Rance, Astbury, Grimes and Balta. They could always depend on their key backs being close to the leading forward.

Gibcus reminds me of Weitering.

He really is an exciting prospect. Shows a lot of composure, good decision maker, strong mark & his kicking a thing of beauty
