Welcome Josh Gibcus

He did okay. Many many worse players than him tonight. Thought he held his own.

Gets another game, maybe another 20 odd games this year.

Unlucky to give away a free in the last when he missed the ball and clipped the Carlton player.

He will be a player.

Similar incident to the one where Jack got a free in front of goal. I thought the Carlton player ducked a bit but Gibcus clearly hit him high. Like the Riewold free there was no intent but very clear high contact.

Not sure I would keep playing him at AFL level, needs a bit of time in the VFL to build as his job is on big forwards. A few VFL games and then get the AFL experience. Didn't look over awed and looks to be a great prospect.

Did OK but his build is not ready for the fierceness of defence and can be pushed off the ball all too easily. Has to bulk up a bit without losing his agility. Like a broken record, I still reckon Miller is a better bet right now. Hasn't the instinctive skill but has the size that is much harder to shift

Gunna be a star but the heat of the contest last night really tested him physically off one ore-season

Put it this way, he doesn't really hurt our structure if he plays so why not pump the games into him.

Firmly believe this to be correct for Sonz and RCD now. Mids are going to get smashed anyway.

Any talk of not playing Gibcus next week is quite frankly strange IMO.

Well done Josh Gibcus :

Gibcus finished the match with 10 disposals, five marks, three rebound-50s, three intercepts and a team-high six one-percenters.

I agree. Its weird reading some of these posts, where our defence was quite good, our forwards were quite good, our midfield was trash and people want to drop the defenders and forwards!!

Wait till he has a poor outing ( which will happen to a young player )
There will be howling and wailing

I liked his game, but I’m wary of overloading the kid. He cramped seriously at the end of the game.

He has plenty of time to recover for Round 2, we don't play until Sunday next week. He will play Round 2 unless injury / covid hits.

Yes, very strange.

A couple of posters wanted to drop Gibcus because he was too thin compared to his Blues opponent! But lets ignore the fact that he kept his opponent goalless.

Actually the fact that Gibcus gave up a decent weight and muscular advantage to Curnow should make his effort even more meritorious.

We have to give Gibcus a second game next week as he showed a fair bit although completely out of gas in the fourth quarter on Thursday and could barely move.

So Charlie Curnow 5 Goals 16 disposals against Doggies, vs 0 goals and 8 disposals against Gibcus.

Makes Josh's round 1 debut look that little bit better :clap2
