Watching Ben Cousins

A CHAMPION TEAM WILL ALWAYS BEAT A TEAM OF CHAMPIONS (Instilled in the under 10's many moons ago).

This is what Cuz is about...

Browny has always been about Browny (Unfortunately).
The Wallet taught him well.

Amazing watching a true champion in the yellow an black,

So true. It gave me chills to see Cuz roaming through packs and always cutting into the middle wherever possible. I could have sworn he was wearing an Eagles jumper he was that good.

Cuz is a down to earth bloke and showed it in the chat with the boundary rider on Saturday night where he was asked about his feelings of playing against West Coast but barely showed any interest and stated that it's all in the past and he is NOW a Richmond player.

Must've given Tambo a few lessons by now considering his improvement.

cuz is a winner and anytime you have a chance to get a winner to your club, you do it.

from the outside he is offering these kids something special and he is enjoying the role and the young fellas are loving it

Why can't Tambling be credited with his own improvement or does Benny just talk to those in form?

Look at Tambling BC (Before Cousins)

Look at Tambling AC (After Cousins)

Heard from very good sources that for whatever reason, Ben has woken up the giant within Richard.

I'm not saying it's a huge (100%) improvement, but is it a coincidence that Tambo plays better after we recruited Cuz compared to his form in the 4 seasons before?

A few lessons or words of advice from a top player does help.

Well that's great if it's true but I just find this whole 'influence' thing very selective and overstated.
There are plenty of players on the list who've stagnated or gone backwards this season but no one is mentioning them.

Maybe Cousins should spend time with them too.

I think it's too much work for one man though :hihi

Mate, just what I have heard, Benny has worked closely with Richie.

He's the best recycled player we've ever picked up and inside the rooms he would be mentoring and teaching players (mainly midfielders) on how to play better. This has been stated publicly in that article a few days ago so its fact not fiction.

I'm getting the sense you don't like Cuz only because he's known as a 'drug addict' rather than a 30 year old player, considering that none of your previous posts show any continuous criticism on any other 30 year old we have.

That's absolute rubbish and you should do your research before posting such crap.
I have been calling for Bowden, Brown & Simmonds to be dropped all season.

I am just offering food for thought and an opposing view.

I just wanted to take this section out of one of the Age articles.

http://www.theage.com.au/news/rfnews/rawlings-strikes-right-chord/2009/06/14/1244917933451.html

On Friday, Cousins addressed the midfield group to stress the importance of team-minded play.

"He said, 'I hope I don't sound like I'm preaching to you, but this is just what I think'," Jackson said.

"It was just the way he sort of said it. You could see that it meant a lot to him … the way he lives his life is the way he plays his footy … and the guys took a lot from it and I think it will make a big difference if we do those things."

What is the point of an opposing view when the current situation benefits the club??

You misunderstand me TigerForce.
I am not opposing Cousins mentoring players. I don't think I have said that anywhere have I?

Footballers get advice from all sorts of individuals during their careers. From Ben, the coach, the assistants, Richo, Jack Riewoldt :hihi, their Dad's etc..
Some will take it & some will have it go over their heads but I find it funny when I see posted that anyone who's out of form needs to speak with Benny and anyone who is in form must have already spoken to him. It's as if he's some kind of messiah to some posters here.

Advice comes from all avenues but it's still up to the individual what they choose to do with it.

If Tambling is finding form, he is the one who should be praised for it. Alternatively if Lid's is dropping off then he's the one who'll wear it.
No one will be telling us Ben's advice must have been poor if he's had a chat with Julian McMahon.

To credit one individual as having such a dramatic impact on their games is just a little OTT for mine.

I hope that the new coach in 2010 has the courage, not only to keep Ben Cousins on the list, but to make the decision to appoint him the Captain for 2010.

i agree. i'm on the "cuz for capo" bandwagon

is a drug addict a winner? i take our point though :hihi

Hmmm, maybe no less a winner than the hopelessly addicted upright, unable to get thru the morning without coffee, the day without cigarettes, any minor aches without painkillers, life without anti-depressants, social situations without alcohol, financial affairs without debt, or every waking minute without being reassured they always have all the answers, commonly combined with an inability to ever courageously face, and so ever deal with their own darker sides... ;D

Maybe Ben's problems, and what must be considerable strength of character in striving to overcome them, have contributed to the inspirational qualities he now makes our club the benefit of.. 8)

Imagine ourselves labelled for life, for some of the dumb things we did in our pasts? Hehehe, just food for thought :hihi
