The umpires preseason info session says they work on 3 steps constituting prior opportunity.
Ok fair enough, I wonder if that's altered when they changed the interpretation in season.

If all the frees being called for above were paid then we would saying too many frees being paid, umpires should let the game flow.
I don't think anyone's asking for more frees to be paid, more consistency and a clear directive is what is being asked. Some of the one's that are being paid shouldn't be and some that aren't should be.

Steps as in stages or 3 physical steps? Chamberlain on the radio last week was saying prior opportunity can take many forms. If you take long enough after a mark/free kick for the umpire to call play on then that’s your prior. Same as feigning a handball. The umpires preseason info session says they work on 3 steps constituting prior opportunity.
Treloar got pinged for THROWING
Fantastic job by the umpires this week
Did Eddie forget to make the “donation “
This week?
Dustin Martin gets the whistle blown against him the micro-second after a tackle has caused him to miss kick or miss his handball. They love pinging No 4 at Richmond. It’s gotta be we are mouthy on the field or they just hate our colours subconsciouslyI was going to ask the same question yesterday. Another one is occasionally players miss the handball and the umpire calls play on and says " he made an attempt". why is it incorrect disposal only sometimes?
There should be a simple rule. You either kick it or handball it correctly. If you throw it, drop it (including missing your foot with a kick) or the new favorite move of just placing the ball on the ground while being tackled, its incorrect disposal.
When 'release the gesh' was doing the job he was always front and centre explaining certain decisions and different changes they were doing. Where's the umpires boss these days??
Why aren't coaches alowed to highlight mistakes?
Every occupation comes with stress and criticism, why are they protected?
They get paid really well these days. If they can't handle it there would be another 100 umpires that could do it. Don't cover/shield them, they should be open to criticism like everyone else.
Good on Clarkson and Hinkley they can't hold it any more, why because this is the Worse group of umpires ive seen in over 45 year's of watching this game.
Bias, team barrackers, influenced by external people, they love the limelight.
They will drive people away from the game.
They have just tooo much influence on the game these days, its a joke.
The ruck rule needs to change unless the ruckman is assaulted, no Ruckman should be given a free kick. Holding, blocking, farting its all crap.
You could use virtually the same argument at the game callers as well.
Abso-f'n-lutly!!!!!! There were wide shots of bonces/ball-ups from Friday's game, that clearly showed a GWS player standing right behind Dusty, like they were in a Tokyo rush hour train, elbows and forearms pushing him along, effectively tunnelling him right under the ball, how the *smile* can that not be seen?Join the dots kids.
Lyold (Carlton) rings his brother Matty.
SL. "Hey Matty, do us a favour"
ML "Whats going on?"
SL "Have a go at the umpires on the 45 shows your on"
ML "Why?"
SL "Show some footage of Cripps getting held and pushed without the ball, ok"
ML "How about Dusty getting slapped every week?"
SL ""'*^"*K him, they don't pay me"
ML. " You owe me"
