Umpire farce - Getting worse by the minute!

And by far the biggest blunder of the season.

1. Goal umpire makes correct call and calls the ball that was marked but over the line, a point.
2. Field umpire questions goal umpire and asks boundary umpire what he thought.
3. Field umpire allows the boundary umpire to over rule the goal umpire.
4. Dustin Fletcher cooks it saying "the goal umpire called appoint!!!"
5. Review system absolutely shows the ball marked way over the line & therefore a point. It inexplicably, calls a mark.
6. Brown swings around and goal.

Incredible farce, joke & amateurism at its finest. Only thing missing was Essendon losing by a few points.

That would have been even better

Yep, we'll summed up

No it didn't. The technology is not capable of showing this.
If the technology is incapable of showing this, then the AFL needs to

A. Invest in better technology.
B. Let the supporters decide from the T.V. replay, it was a point.
C. Refer the decision back to the ORIGINAL goal umpires call, that's what his job is and he was in perfect position.
D. Tell the ego strokin mid field umpire to mind his own *smile* business and worry about the mid field decisions not the goal umpires decisions.
E. Throw all the above in the bin as long as Esserdope loses it's all good.

What an embarrassment for our game this has become

What do you have to do to be pinged for throwing the ball?

These days you can throw it, drop it, fling it, chuck it, hurl it, bowl it, underarm it, overarm it, toss it, pitch it, heave it, lob it, hit someone in the head with it, roll it along the ground, hand-pass it to yourself and slap it away with one hand, drill three holes in it and bowl a strike with it and still not give away a free.

Kinda defeats the purpose of the rule.

Yeah a beef of mine. Watched the first half of the Coll-Geel game, took it to a whole new level. A cavalcade of throws/ cursory, barest of limp wristed flick passes to players running past. As we have discussed before 70s, I reckon good sides picks up which way the wind is blowing in a particular game, or what particular umpires tend to pay or not pay, and exploit it.

If the umpiring has been woeful so far this weekend, wait till they unleash fury at the MCG today, it will most likely be the most over umpired game of the round with a lot of very soft frees getting awarded to Melbourne and Richmond having to get our heads ripped off to gain a free.

15-5 melbourne's way half-time, even it up in second half after they have look at the stats 24-19.

I remember one game against Melb a few years ago where we were will in front at half time and going away. The second half saw the Tigers get 1 free kick in the whole half and we barely won the game. Cant remember hw many Melb got but that the umps saying Melb played flawless football.....

Come on guys, it's been pretty fair umpiring. The expected 1 or 2 errors but over all it's been ok.

Same game as you, maybe a bit more objectively. Frees 13 to 10 our way ( and es I know it's not just raw frees that always tell te story)
