Umpire Abuse

Don't know about that, looked like he yelled something out to me.

Max Gawn's reaction certainly wasn't bad luck mate you didn't do anything wrong either.
Taking your umpire hat off, you honestly think Petraccas reaction was demonstrative? One that made the umpire feel threatened?

That was insane. They’re at it again the AFL and umpires.

Warning to all players: if you look at the heavens after a free kick and don’t say anything, nor gesture at the umpire, that’ll still be 50.

Game is eroding.
Victoria- The Nanny State.

Seriously we r *smile*. How anyone can defend this highlights how fragile we’ve become.

The AFL are doing everything possible to disenfranchise the supporter base.

Hocking and now Gil. Media too pissweak to say anything.
Mince will defend it. Nothing surer.

This is reverse psychology. The more ridiculous the rules, the more abuse they'll get. Digging their own holes.

When I played footy, the umpires would join you after the game for a beer. There would be some colourful and jocular conversations however one learnt to temper one’s deeper thoughts or bringing up intricacies of their performance lest they reminded you of your average performance or lack of football ability in front of all your teammates. And of course they handed out the votes!
Made the umpires feel part of the game.

You would also drink with the opposition where great mate-ships and rivalries were established.
They were some of the best memories of my playing days.
Sad that these traditions evaporated
What happened? Why did this change?

When has it ever been an issue?

When does zero tolerance work in any field?

Just saw it and cannot believe that was paid a 50. Anyone advocating that it was a justified decision by the umps is an umpires sycophant

The Tomlinson one was just as bad. Theres abuse and there’s a conversation. Now there’s no communication. Can’t wait till a 50 gets paid because a player ignores an umpire and doesn’t show the right amount of respect. Absolute rubbish tonight.
