First five games are live on ESPN UK.

Giddy up!

Given my vehement dislike of Aussie Sports TV and the AFL media policy to OS fans, I should actually give a little credit. Finally they appear to have pulled the heads out of their arse and got a semi-decent service. The new liveafl.tv is actually OK. Basically streams every game not taken by local (in my case ESPN UK) providers. So I was able to watch the Hawks v Crows game live. The screen resolution/quality wasn’t great but was reasonable, no buffering or time outs and certainly watchable.

£50 for the year and five games a week that seems ok to me. Might actually sign up again as current contract ends this week. The fact you still cannot get other video media on the AFL/RFC sites is still *smile* but this is a massive step forward. A fair way to go though.

Did that happen today?

While pleasing its been some time coming. Glad someone is now fighting in our corner.

hey RFCO , I recently emailed feedback to the AFL via their website about the fact that i am an AFL member , RFC member and Bigpond user in Australia but I travel overseas quite frequently . When I do I have to pay to watch AFL media because i assume the website picks up I am using an overseas service when I am online . Its just plain wrong and so far after a week i have no reply from the AFL .

Is there anything that you are doing here that will help that ? By helping i mean giving me the free service i should have which is denied me just because I happen to travel.

Im assuming that now RFC media is free, AFL media will be the same.

Stig, not sure how much lobbying you did for us, but its great to see it happen.

2 Bacardi Breezers heading your way.

Australia Network.

As an aside, Fox is bidding for the rights to produce Network Australia. I hope it doesn't adversely effect our AFL viewing if they win.

Not good news expats..
Have had word that the Australia Network might be looking to substantially cut back on sport from August.
That being predominantly AFL, League and Union..

Yeah, I just heard that. They've already lost Union to Setanta. League isn't showing as far as I can tell. If they lose AFL then I can give up the channel.

I hoipe this new AFL online thing works well.

I will ditch WETV if the AFL get's taken off, first it was the cricket and now this. Just another reason to loathe Rupert Murdoch.

Ive been catching a game or 2 through that "Network Austarlia" over here in the States, but through a 3rd party link that doesn't cost a cent .....that mob want so much $$$ a month to become a member and catch all the games....no way, you can never tell these days how long anything will stay at a certain place, and you can bet they wont be in a hurry to reimburse you anyting your owed either also.
