Reckon Cotch still has a poster of Lids on his wall.
Lids looking like he wishes he'd stayed at the zoo for another few years. Individual player? Yep premium. Team leader? Yeah, nah, maybe not.

The book told plenty. Clear top dog friction between Cotch & Lids.Reckon Cotch still has a poster of Lids on his wall
You could argue Lids was a better player but not in the same postcode for leadership
Lids was your cream on top player if the team was going well.Personally wouldnt put lids anywhere near Trent as a player also.
I don’t think we should underrate Lids as a player. There was a period post Richo before the emergence of Cotch and Dusty where he was clearly our best player. Lids had terrific speed, great delivery and his marking was very underrated imo. Great player.
I remember when there was a very telling stat about our success rate as a team with and without Lids.
Lids was an excellent outside player. Not someone who could drag a team over the line though.Cant speak for others however i am not, he was our best player during a difficult period and was a fine player.
You are probably mostly right but he did play some stellar games in tough circumstances.Lids was an excellent outside player. Not someone who could drag a team over the line though.
Still he probably could have been a Premiership player at the right club at the right time in his career prime.
As usual at Richmond during the dark age it was a case of too much left to too few when he was at his best.
Then injuries..
^^^^^^^ This! Was a very good player but not a game changer like Cotch or Dusty could be.There's only one problem with Deledio. He never became a great player. Not a real good player. A great player. He shouldve. Had more than enough tools.
He averaged 22.2 disposal across 14 seasons including a career best of 27.5 in 2012 plus he had nine consecutive seasons averaging 20+ disposals per game. Deledio had no trouble finding the ball and when he did find it, he was better than most at knowing what to do with it.My take on Lids is that he was the athlete player. Didn't have a football mind set. All the tools - speed skill marking - just didn't know where to place himself during a game. Give him some of Riewoldt's football brain and Lids would have been a super star
