people was saying the same with Jack, he comes out and kicks 4. Trent will be the same, he will come out and give 110 %.

I think he's being kept out of the middle because him trying to get a clearance, bending over full stretch, is a hamstring risk. No point him coming back and then sitting out 6 games, and missing the 300.
So the whole team structure is compromised to get a bloke to 300? Think we are better than that.

Cotchin picks his time.
Outside the RFC the most underrated LEADER ever, well in my lifetime anyway.
He bridged the gap of the born in the 80s and the born in the 2000s. Sacrificed his natural game to give the club the ultimate success. And everyone bought in.
He gets 300 everyday of the week.

Yeah think im starting to get a little annoyed with the attitude that blokes can pick and choose how they go out. Yes, Cotchin has been a fantastic player and captain.
Yes Cotchin was a big part of the reason we won those flags but Cotchin was payed handsomely for his efforts. He didnt do it for free.
The club is always bigger than the player. Edwards is the same. Was given a couple of years experience with the recruitment team, was nursed to 300 at the detriment of the team. Was supposed to be part of the Tigers recruitment team at the end of it all and at first opportunity jumps ship to Adelaide.
Point being the players will choose what's best for themselves 99% of the time. Club should do the same.
That is why i have so much respect for Astbury. Gave his all and did the right thing by the club.
Cotchin decision to play on this year was all about the 300.

So you think he's a good contributor to our forward line? As for nursing someone to 300 who was past it.....I present Shane Edwards.

I am not sure if he is or not this season. But saying he doesn’t go into the centre because he might bend over and do a hammy and so miss 300 is putting the individual before the team.

Cotch finished last year well, and stayed this year in reasonable form. He made no impact as sub against the dogs, and was ordinary against the swans.
It will be interesting if he plays this week, but his career shouldn't be ended on the back of 2 bad games.

He's not playing well enough to be in the seniors right now (earlier this year maybe). We're putting the individual before the team to get him to 300.

Love Cotch but this is how i see it at the moment. I call it the Ty Vickery effect. Ty had to kick 4 goals every game to make up for the things he didn't do. Cotch is the same at the moment. He needs to get 30 and have 10 clearances also to make up for the things that he can't do any more. Eg chase tackle, spread etc
I think there will be a spot for him later in the year when the game slows down a bit in July and august l.

So weird seeing him named on the extended bench after a couple of weeks being subbed in & out.
Assuming he'll play but not totally sure what they're doing with Cotch atm apart from try to get him to 300.
If he plays & struggles again then things will get more awkward. Hope he plays well.

I'm not sure his decline over the last few games is entirely age related.

Sure, he's older and slower.

But no one, no matter how experienced, is immune from the challenge of positional change.

A declining athleticism plus a new role? Not a good combo.

He's effectively being asked to play the Castagna role without the legspeed.

Stuff this 'Carry him to his 300' nonsense.
Chuck him in the guts the whole game let him do what he's done for more than a decade.

He'll carry us.

At the moment, no one's pushing for a midfield spot in the 2's. Ross should be in, but take your pick of one of our non performing kids for that.

The selection and positioning this year reeks of too clever by half.

Just play your best squad to their strengths.

Couldn’t agree more with you Coburg.

Reeks of ‘arrogance’, being ‘too clever’, thinking that ‘ Taranto/ Hopper ‘ were the ‘missing link’ to another flag tilt.

Cumberland experiment. Plays round 1 , we win, not draw.

Cotchin , played mainly as a forward this year in a role, true Caesar stated he was training in that rôle preseason, is just against his decade long contribution. Play him at the start of each quarter. A burst period. It’s sad watching his past few games.

Collingwood game three ‘talls in the rain. Terrible selection. Second half a turnaround due to structure more suited to the conditions.

Dogs game. Trying to play dry weather football ( as we did in that second quarter burst ) when it rained / ball slippery conditions in the second half.
Coach error or player error. What was the message at HT?

Swans. Undisciplined disaster. Many players who played poorly. Riddled game with skills by hand and foot embarrassing. A game with so many injuries, Swans hit harder, yet we think we can win games by playing a good quarter.

As I’ve stated earlier . Near the bottom of the ladder ( equal ) last for quarters won.

Melb Monday night will tell me more about the coaches and players mindset.

If it gets hard will they fight it out or will the white flag be waved.

I want to see Shai , Dusty, Cotch and Pickett played through the middle for bursts , to cause Melb some problems and pressure. If we trot out the same same midfield to me that is Dimma driven, arrogance, no imagination and where his Assistants have no input.

I know Daniel Rioli is one of our best rebound defenders.

I know Goodwin wouldn’t expect this!

Put Mansell back, Baker back.

Swap Rioli forward now that he seems over his foot injury and playing very good footy with Maurice Rioli. Might just ignite the forward line.

Miller back and taking where possible ruck duties in the back half. Not as a forward.

Try and mix the ruck up with Miller, Samson & Balta.

Just my thoughts.

Your thoughts !, more like the ramblings of someone who has never coached a game of footy in their life thinking they have it over Dimma !
