Jack, Rance and now Cotch agreeing new deals. Surely this means something is happening on the Lynch front?
Dusty, Tross, Jaaack n Cotch, that's the big guns locked and loaded to be one club, drought breaking premiership heroes, bloody fantastic. Theoretically the adjusting has been done to bring in Lynch n setup the forward line for the next half dozen years.
The mid tier is solid n there's some promising youngsters developing, looking like the club has no intention of stumbling n bungling back to mediocrity n insignificance in a hurry.

At least 4 more seasons of The Chimp! Awesome!

Hopefully he can get to the 300 game milestone. For a club with such a storied history it's interesting we only have 3 x 300 gamers with the last being Francis Bourke in 1981.

Hopefully Jack and Titch can get there as well. Dusty should do it.

Playing 300 games for one club is not as common as you might think.
There are 58 of them.

I've always found it interesting that Richmond has had only 3.
Is having alot of 300 game players traditionally a sign of strength or weakness?
Does it mean you can carry players to 300 because you're strong or you're desperate to keep players longer than you should because you're weak?

For example, Hawthorn (13 premierships) have the most with 8, while the Bulldogs (2 premierships) have the next most with 7.
On the other hand, Collingwood (15 premierships) have only 2.

Full counts:
8 - Hawthorn
7 - Footscray/WB
5 - Carlton, Essendon, North Melbourne, St Kilda
4 - Adelaide, Geelong, Sydney (none in the South Melbourne era).
3 - Richmond
2 - Brisbane, Collingwood
1 - Fitzroy, Fremantle, Melbourne, Port Adelaide
0 - Gold Coast, GWS, West Coast

Good info mate. I also find it interesting that Adelaide has been in the AFL 4 years less than West Coast but have 4 x 300 gamers and WCE has none.

How many other 300 gamers are there that accumulated the games across 2 or more clubs?

I think it's something like 30 who've played for 2 or more clubs.

The travel combined with the hard surfaces of Perth impacts the longevity of players from WA teams a fair bit.

There are 84 in all so 26 : https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_VFL/AFL_players_to_have_played_300_games

For some players, it's a matter of opinion whether their 300 games were with one club or not.
Marcus Ashcroft is listed as 152 with the Bears and 166 with the Lions but he crossed when the clubs "merged" so I counted his as one-club.
Alistair Lynch is listed as 120 with Fitzroy, 32 with the Bears and 154 with the Lions, but he was playing for the Bears while Fitzroy were still in the comp so I didn't count him.

300 gamers wasn’t really a thing until the 70s. There are only a handful who got there before Ted Whitten, who is the first that I can remember. I’m not surprised Hawthorn lead the list, players tend to get there when they are involved in a dynasty. Tuck, Matthews, Scott, Langford and Kelvin Moore all played together, as did Burgoyne, Hodge and Mitchell.

Geelong had Enright, Bartel, Kelly and GAblett Jnr. Brisbane had Akermanis, Black, Ashcroft, Lynch and Power. At Sydney, it was Goodes, McVeigh, Bolton and O’Loughlin.

The majority of 300 gamers also played between 15 and 30 finals, which is like an extra season.

What this tells us if that if we get a dynasty with the current group, we will get the added bonus of a shed load of 300 gamers. Dusty, Cotch, Rance, Sheds and Jack will all get very close.

I’m hoping the dynasty lasts long enough to add in the likes of Graham, Higgins and our first draft pick next year.

cool analysis, thanks digi-man.

Great news.

Our top 4 all signed and Tigers for life.

Now for a finals like performance as in 2017. Set the tone the skipper does.

Would love to see Cotch raise the cup on grand final day and be, at least, a two-time premiership captain.
Would place him in elite company.

How many years as captain and premierships does Cotch need to be considered Richmond's greatest ever Capt? Or will Jack Dyer never lose that title no matter what Chimp achieves?

We will double our 300 gamers with Cotchin , Riewoldt & Martin all getting to 300 games before their time is done at Tigerland

Wouldnt be surprised to see a few more come to that level with Vlastuin,B.Ellis also on their way

I think Jack will definitely get there and Dusty as well. Less sure on Cotch, he's had more injury time and the way he uses his body as a battering ram does not extend the career. Dusty's had about 4 or 5 games out in his entire career and the only time he's been out for consecutive games was due to the sleeping pill incident with Connors. Jack's fairly similar. Ellis has also been very durable, prior to being dropped earlier this season he had played the most consecutive games of anyone on our list. Vlastuin's just got over 100 this year I think, so a long way to go.
