Trent Cotchin (Merged)

maybe its a little over the top, but Cotch reminds me of an orchestra conductor or film director. when he's on, the team are.

I don't agree. I think Cotchin is one of most tagged players of the Tigers. He is also often given a role. He doesn't have the explosive power of a Martin or Dangerfield so is more taggable. Last week there was clearly something wrong imo, coincidence after his hospital visit? Probably not. I agree, I'd love to see him get the 30+ touches he did against the Hawks but knowing he can be tagged and how dangerous his disposals are, these are likely reasons he has poorer games statistically at times.

They couldn't tag him on Sunday if they wanted to!! Try tagging Mitchell and Selwood who are both slow ( as in aren't quick )
Cotchin can run and he has blistering explosiveness when he wants to. It was no fluke he did what he did against Hawks. He just needs to get to more contests and the rest will take care of t's self.
Cotchin role player?? Pffffffffffft

Selwood can definitely successfully be tagged and has been in the past. When he had limited midfield support a couple of years back he struggled big time with the tag. Cotchin was not tagged against the Hawks. In fact I saw him a couple of times keeping a hand on Mitchell. And yes, last year was a much improved year last year over the previous year exactly because he was given roles rather than just rack up cheap possessions. You can pfft as much as you want, Cotchin and the club have themselves admitted as much. Almost every player these days is given roles.

Sorry I should have clarified. I was talking about Joel, not Scott. I'm talking about a champion of the game who has lifted his team to more victories than I care to count. Who is always there at the coal face and refuses to concede. Never seen him tagged out of a game. ( and yes he ducks ) One of the mentally toughest players of the last decade.
Regarding playing roles, what would be Mitchell's role? Getting leather poisoning? Role playing is for role players not champions like Cotch. If he plays every week like last week, de to work rate, the only role he would be worried about is how to fit all his trophies on his mantle piece

Well you need to watch some of the docos I'm afraid. A changed-focus role in 2017 was exactly what Cotch was given and why he had less average disposals since 2010 but was given accolades for his efforts in 2017.

Yes so was I. Joel can be tagged and has often been tagged and at times has been shut down because of a tag. As has Cotchin. I can't say the same for a Dangerfield or a Dusty, which was my original point. They are quick, strong, burst players and pretty much untaggable. Not too many of them in the league.

The Chimp is too classy for Hawthorn. Easy BOG.

Interested to see how he goes this week. He is starting to feel the bumps and bruises. Sensational with 14 day breaks in QF and PF. Okay in GF. Great Sunday with 10 day break. Backing up with 6 day break.

BTW back him in for BOG Anzac eve (10 day break)

That's the kind of insight that makes you money, Robert. Good thoughts.

Great game by the skipper.

Some had Dusty BOG others Cotchin !

I had Dusty but will be a keen observer on Brownlow night and see how the umpires saw it.

Huge 2 weeks with the Demons Anzac eve and against the Pies midfield.
