Training For Redemption in 2022

I can see what Hardwick wants this year.
With Tarrant & now Gibcus on board he wants Balta to be our Tom Hawkins.
Big & Strong forward.
If the media catch on they will send Riewoldt into retirement.
I can't see us ever playing Lynch Riewoldt and Balta in the forward 50.

I only saw 2/3rds (on tv)

Best: Baker, George, Broad, Dion, D.Rioli, $hai

Most exciting for the future: The Sonz, Gibbo

I reckon The Sonz plays a lot like Dion,

and Gibbo is more Jake lever than Jake Lever.

With Gibbo, Grimes, Vlastuin, Broad, Balta and Brown in the backline, we're gonna break the intercept'o'meter.

Did anyone else notice that Nanks had his right leg bandaged?
Balta kicked two goals, one from outside 50.
The black team dominated.
George kicked a nice goal.
Caddy did well and seemed to have a mid role.
Bit hard to pick out some of the players when watching on the desktop screen..

The Sonz has attended more centre bounces than anyone from what I can tell?

Has a huge arse and a soft left slipper
I still don't understand the fall in picks. He is exactly what we need. Class, poise and footskills.

Of the older apprentices, Hugo looked good and Biggie was bigger and more prominent than I've seen him.

Miller still wears his invisibility cloak.

MRJ barely near it. Cumberland a few flashes but well behind Caddy (and of course Dusty for that role).

RCD disappointing after a bright start. Ross was solid. Martyn not too prominent.

Of the cubs, Gibcus looks ready enough and Sonsie is a natural: only fitness benchmarks need to be ticked off. I don't think Brown and Banks touched it, and Juddy only popped up sometimes.

Balta is not a forward despite the late flourish when I suspect the A graders were mostly off the ground.

Stack also isn't looking dangerous when forward. Disappointing ITBHO.

There's enough depth to keep Aarts and Parker out. Can we Capuano one and get Lefau onto the list?

Entertaining game, noticeable tweak to the game plan. Most of the game players were looking to hit up the player with short controlled passes, instead of just blazing away. All the other Richmond traits on show pressure and the forward handball game.

One player I like the look of will play for our VFL team. Nice skills, a lefty, good vision and decision making.

Massimo D’ambrosio

5/6/2003, 177cm, 75kg, defender/midfielder

Talented youngster from the Western Jets. D’ambrosio played solid football at NAB League level last year and was rewarded with a Vic trial game for his efforts.

D’ambrosio is smart, an excellent ball user by foot and has the flexibility to play multiple positions. The 18-year-old will train with Richmond while playing as a 19-year-old for the Jets again in 2022.

I have a theory that the market doesn't like laconic and/or lack of charisma.

and I suspect The Sonz is laconic, and not very charismatic.

agree, he's exactly what we need.

very rare you see an 18yo attend every centre bounce in an intraclub.

Neither Banks nor Brown played.

Staggered we kept Parker on the list.

If he gets regular games, we'll be in a world of trouble.

good depth,

but yes, to succeed,

we need Aarts, Parker, Ross, RCD in the VFL in august/sept.

ideally, blokes like Caddy, George and Stack cant get a game either.

Jury out on RCD and Stack. But the others listed would have to really jump a level to be in our stronger / strongest side.

Glorified training run and towards the end of the game it was circle work.

When the game was at its hottest, Cotch, Prestia and Baker were the best.

As much as RCD, Caddy showed, does anyone really think they'll get picked once Dusty, Lynch, Graham and Lambert return? I don't.

Grain of salt for today. But it's a very good sign for depth as injuries will inevitably hit.

From what I hear he is reserved and hard to get a conversation out of, not rude, just quiet.

When there is limited footy footage and games played in a draft, interviews output is IMO judged to be more important. Wrongly.

And last year was a limited season, makes sense that the Sonz dropped under these circumstances. If he played a full year, he's top 10. Easy.

From one intra-club match I’d already say that Sonsie looks like our best pure midfield prospect taken in the draft in at least a decade, probably since Martin. But that’s a very low bar.
