Training For 2023

I saw Graham speak to medico's on several sessions before camp and then going inside without doing anything so I have cause for doubt.

I reported Prestia was in rehab Pre-Camp and had missed a couple of the match-sim games and the report above say's he was in re-hab again today but just managing him

I mentioned in a post that I did not see Grimes participate in the last 10 minutes of the match-sim i witnessed on the Monday they headed off to camp and a week later it is reported above that he is re-hab but only management:unsure:.

We do know their history so I will wait to see for myself.

Sonsie whilst he has had a pre-season of sorts I did report prior to camp that he had missed a couple of sessions and match sims.

Shorty has only just re-joined the main group having been in re-hab since they returned in January but was not mentioned in injury dispatches at all. Hopefully he is up to joining match sim?

Lynch yet to join main group with season fast approaching.

These are all questions that i need answered.
You should be our media and injury personal you’re on top of things better than others

Yep I feel we might not be have been openly transparent about our current injuries throughout this pre season. We’re usually pretty good in-season, but seems we’ve kept some secrets this off season
Just to protect from those lurching eyes. They want 17 clubs to fear us listing our issues won’t set that fear play and simple

The lack of injury updates from the Club may be frustrating, but i don't mind the secrecy, it's also being kept from the other Clubs. They really don't have to say anything this time of yr.

we have a horrid pre season injury wise

Lynch and prestia are our two most important players and both have doubts

I am especially concerned about prestia , no news is bad news usually

If not for Taranto and Hopper, I'd be petrified about Prestia but give Dion all the time he needs, or give him regular breaks during the season just as long as he is peaking later in the season.

Yeh, the whole aim is to to have a fit squad come finals. Almost every premier in the last 20 years has had a combination of good luck and management in getting their best 22 on the park at the pointy end. We stuffed up in 2018 and the club has learnt from it.

Look at the Cats last year - they had key players miss games (Danger/Cameron/Selwood/Stewart) but they were all fit and available come September.

The added depth should enable us to manage the likes of Lynch/Prestia/Cotchin/Grimes/Jack through the season.

Is that the fix for Prestia? Time?
He apprently had the best pre seasons last year and he blew a gasket 2 qtrs into the season.
I reckon they need to get him running and if he pops a hammy so be it.

I think with Prestia specially the club need to manage him and his game time and his training differently same as Grimes and even Lynch to a degree.

Not a sports scientist but something like 4 games on 1 game off and only 75-80% game time max

I think the club got in the 2 GWS lads to cover for Prestia not cotch

Is this best educated guessing, sharing, or spying?

Bit of all of the above. We all see how astute @caesar is at spotting injuries and clubs have people watching other clubs all the time who also pick up on those things. They also have the expertise to know what behaviours go with various conditions.

Then you have the small world of football with players talking, sharing the same medical facilities, managers etc...and word soon gets around.

In nearly 10 years I never once saw a late withdrawal from an opposition player that was a surprise, there was always some sort of intelligence to suggest they might not play.

Thanks TBR for that insight. So given the above why isn't the club up front about injuries to players? Privacy????

Also it mught be a bit of controlling the narrative.
Do we need to know every inch of detail?
Do we want more talk on footy?
More positive optimism to win members?

Not forgetting that in season most players would be dealing with niggles, hampered by issues, or struggling with something.
Clubs would be expect a level of fortitude

Very good points, it also depends a bit on the player. Some guys have that old school approach where they don't want anyone to know they are hurt, others like it to be known so people will get off their backs about their performance.
