Thoroughbred racing

Some very good racing tomorrow, quite a few shorties though.

I have had a couple of early bets placed on Wednesday.

Very keen on Gringotts. Snapped up $5.00. Into $3.50 now. Should have bolted in first up.

Hesitated, but took $6.00 about Spirit Of Wealth in the Roman Consul. Very surprised to see her as short as $3.10 now. She’s raw, she’s green, but she has some ability. Glad I got her early, dunno if I would back her at the current price given the massive class rise.

OK, by unprecedented popular demand we are back with Leysy's Saturday Set!

Let's get the thread rolling for the spring with some winners!!!!

Caulfield:

Race 2 - Keepsake: Absolutely flying in jumpouts and trials. Pings from the lids and could get an easy lead here and keep going!!! Could be a serious horse.

Race 7 - Mr Brightside: Normally wouldnt tip one at odds on. But he's getting out to $1.90 now. Ridiculous. Put him in all multi's. One out in quads etc. Should be $1.40.

Race 9 - Star Patrol: One of the Saturday Set favs. Flying in jumpouts and trials. Flies first up. Can win at odds.

Race 10 - Another Wil. Antino the only danger. Gets the right breaks at the top of the straight it wins.

Rosehill:

Race 1 - Alabama State: Huge scope this horse. On the minimum. K-Mac on. Will progress through grades.

Race 7 - Kovalica: Not normally one of mine, but there's a couple at the head of the market who are big distance queries. Draws a gate to settle closer and win.

Race 8 - Gringotts: Moral rolled last start. Maps a treat. Huge sprint. Yes.

GL All!!

Caulfield Race 8
number 3 Evaporate.
Doesn't know how to run a bad race and can lead or come from the back. A very tough 3yo.

Deny knowledge too good.

Mr B just doesn't quite get 2,000m

Atishu can win again over cup week.
Red hot leader and rail bias at the Heath today. Managed to jag Private Life in the Guineas and great ride by Lane to take advantage of the bias. Also had a small each way bet on Feroce who very nearly saluted at $51 and $8.50 the place.

Shithouse ride by JMac on Atishu; had get too far back given the bias. Probably should have won. She will be hard to beat in the Champions Stakes again. Loves Flemington.

Great ride by Shinn wins it on Antino. Took the initiative and took the bias out with a daring ride. Unlike the spud Stackhouse on Orchestral (WTF are the putting him on for?). Forget she went around hardly got warm. Will love the mile on the big Flemington track in the Empire Rose. Another Wil very disappointing.

Tough day but Private Life and Feroce saved it.

Caulfield track was a disgrace today.

Flemington and Sandown the only Melbourne tracks you can rely on for a fair surface.

Why Sandown isn’t utilised more is beyond me.

Sandown is a beautiful race track with a long straight. As you say generally very fair for all comers. But the facilities are very old and run down and the MRC always wants Caulfield as its main track so it’s unlikely to change much.

Another to follow out of today is Chewing Gum. Check out her run in race 2. Came from last against the pattern and almost won. Backed her e/w $31 and $6 and she just missed. Her first start win at Geelong in weaker grade was incredible then she was flat second up as is usually the case after a great first up run. She is very good and should win plenty of races.

Fair enough I suppose. I’ve never been to Sandown so had no idea it was in a poor state facility wise.

I actually won at Caulfield today by backing Grinzinger Belle, then following the money for Deny Knowledge. Having a racing pattern can make it easier to find winners but I would prefer to bet on a surface where every horse has its chance.

Got out of jail in Sydney with an Olentia into Pharari bonus bet multi. Leysy’s mail with Alabama State helped too.

Just watched the replay, entering the straight I thought Chewing Gum might get stuck on the fence:)

Another to follow is Orchestral from the Toorak, missed the kick and had no luck in the straight.

Yeah posted same earlier about Orchestral. Completely forget the run she never got warm. She’ll be cherry ripe for a big race at Flemington, probably Empire Rose, just need to get a better jockey on her.

What a ripper days racing in both states today. Don't have time for rundown on reasoning.

Hopefully some of the many seconds we had last week can turn into more winners!!

Caulfield (expect inside to chop up).

Race 6 - Geegees Mistruth
Race 7 - Rey Magnerio
Race 8 - Skybird
Race 9 - Zardozi

Randwick (expect inside lanes to be off)

Race 5 - Far Too Easy
Race 7 - Sunshine in Paris
Race 8 - Well Timed - 20/1 so bet EW if you do that thing.

GL!!
