Thoroughbred racing

She’s a gun. As is Prowess although not sure we’re she is at; haven’t seen her yet this preparation.

That race in NZ saw Skew Wiff chalk up another G1 winner for Savabeel. Reckon that’s his 32nd. Incredible sire.

Prowess has had a minor setback. Now being aimed at the later spring riches I believe.

Noticed a week or so ago she had come out of Cox Plate early markets.

That’s a shame about Prowess. Was looking forward to her return. I’ve had a small bet on both her and Legarto at $51 in the Cox Plate. They are both still in the market that price but I’d imagine neither will run. Legarto possibly heading to Golden Eagle?

She’s back!

Can’t wait to see how Amelia’s Jewel goes against the east coast horses.

Given her racing style barrier 15 should pose no problems, especially at Flemington.

That's a good field of mares but if she is as good as everyone thinks she should smoke them. The real tests will come later when she comes up against the cream of the middle distance horses or the sprinter/milers; depending which way she goes.

She’s the best out of the west since Northerly Rids, I’m calling it.

Not sure her goals, think the Golden Eagle is on the agenda.

If that’s the case can‘t see her going beyond 1600m this prep.

You could be right.

The trainer doesn't even know where she's going yet; doesn't know her best distance. She's locked in for this race and the Stocks Stakes at the Valley; mares only again over a mile. After that it's up in the air. She may still aim for Cox Plate.

Good plan. See how she handles MV. If she skates round there ok why not target the Cox Plate.

I reckon she could run a strong 2000m

There's 5 million reasons why Mopsy.

Ridiculous as it is the Golden Eagle (4 y.o only over 1400) is worth 10 Mill Vs Cox Plate 5 mill.

Had a bit of a crack at Benedetta on Saturday.

I think shes VERY good.

Last year during Cup week I made an impulse buy.

I bought an extremely small share in a horse with My Racehorse after seeing a story by Jason Richardson with Gai Waterhouse and they bought into a horse previous owned by the Queen and had one start for one win under King Charles.

That horse is Just Fine who won two weeks ago at 1600m in Benchmark race.

Now it is favourite for a Group 3 on Saturday the Kingston Town and nominated for Epsom, Metropolitan and Melbourne Cup.

We just bought it to say we bought a horse previously owned by the Queen and now we can add to to the story it won a race and nominated for Melbourne Cup. Just getting value and excitement from that

Good point LD. They only get one crack at the GE.

V'Landys and his crazy prizemoney is devaluing some iconic races.

V'Landys is an absolute *smile*. His circus stunt races are in jepoardy of devaluing the Australian breeding industry. The Everest is a total smokescreen; typical Sydney. 1200m race as that is all the attention span they can handle there. The claim that it is the richest race in Australia is misleading. Yes it might offer the most prizemoney but only because 12 x filthy rich slot holders stump up $700K each and then negotiate a deal that gets them the best value and not the owners of the horse. It was very telling that David Ellis rejected any offers to run Imperatriz in the Everest. None of the slot holders offered a deal commensurate with her real value so he's decided to stay in Melbourne for the big sprints here. I loved his crack at V'Landys as well when talking about the Champions Sprint; "It's worth $3m and you don't have to share it with anyone!" :mhihi

To be fair V'Landys has created great interest in the Everest and turned into a great "event". It does attract most of the best sprinters but I'm not sure how sustainable the format is in the long run. He wants it to attain G1 status but seriously you can not grant G1 status to a race where 12 x filthy rich people dictate who actually runs in it.

She's a jet. Loves the straight and really hard to see her getting beat tomorrow; especially with What You Need out of the race.

Only 53kg!!!

Benedetta is a very very good horse.

It can win but be very very wary of unloading on her in that race ILO. Especially at the current price. Confident it drifts.

Star Patrol has been trialling and jumping out like a lear jet and tellingly he has none of his usual feet gear on (synthetic hoof filler and glue on shoes).

That is a good guide McDonald has him spot on.

The only question mark, is it is coming back from a throat op. If they have fixed it's breathing it could find lengths on its previous form which is scary. But never quite sure until put under race condition.

At the price though $6. It's a definite bet for Leysy.

Great meeting at Headquarters today. Some real good things but all very short. Antino, Legacies, Amelias Jewel, Benedetta, Carini. Like Skirt The Law as well. All ups might be the way to go today.
