Shame they dropped out of the Cup. It was one on my list for a win.

Im as cold as the hot water bottle my mother-in-law made me last time it snowed. So.

Given Yankee Rose is unbackable in the Oaks, Scottish in the Mackkinnon will be my last bet of the year.

In the Caufield Cup, he nearly falls over at the start, gets up, gets knocked over, travels 6 wide, pulls to the lead, pulls a bit more, and then has no right to, but holds on for 2nd.

he'll have to lump another 4.5 kg at WFA I think, but these pommy stayers seem to haul Chris Yarran-size jockeys all the time over there?

Women's day have an interesting story about Lloyd Williams failed bid to buy Marie Payne's little brother.

We'll have to be content with another riches-to-riches story.

I'm flying. +13 units today. Even backed a $6.50 winner at Eagle Farm: Saggamama in R5.

I suspect my units maybe different to yours spook, but I like the relativity. well done.

I was about 8 units up for the carnival before today.

Now im about 3 up. Still, thats how I roll. I mostly break even over a carnival (only bet sydney autumn, melbourne spring), with the occasional large win requiring hospitalisation.

Ive already written on the 2017 calender on Nov 1 'its a sh!tbox raffle handicap you dumb *smile*. go to work'

still, The Cup wasnt a total loss. Gina Rhinehart fell down the stairs of the birdcage, pissed.

I had Qewy for a place....just missed.

Had Almoonqith and Who Shot The Barman to complete my first four. Watched about 436 replays and still can't work out how Qewy hung on.

Need another beer.

your mystery bet got a lot closer than me. As I posted earlier, I got the trif years ago with the Japanese quinella. Remember when all the pundits said afterwoods that the Japanese would bring over a few horses every year and take home the cup like shelling peas? Had a sentimental 5 EW sidebet on the Japanese stayer, already forgot its name, died in the arse like most international raiders do, the FIFO ones at least.

currently moronic.

Really good stayer. Something special about these Irish horses.

No great fan of Llloyd (because of the Hudson Conway bid for Crown) but this article is garbage.

This one not much better.

A once-great newspaper in the toilet. Publishes diatribe rather than news.

I dunno, I'm cool with it. Racing has the odd feel good story, Michelle Payne, Takeover Target (my personal favourite), but it has an awful lot of feel-bad stories. Williams is about the top of the tree, crooked as a dogs hind leg. Notorious not very nice person. Super rich via inherited wealth and political networks and patronage, and thats putting aside his questionable casino deal which you seem to dismiss as irrelevant, I don't think its irrelevant. And also putting aside the long history of general negative social impacts and special political treatment of casinos.

If the media write about the battler winning against the odds, they should also write about the Mr Burns powerful tycoon winning with the odds.

Good to see the thread still going strong.

Leysy mamaged to get a smallish piece of the tri in the Cup. Would have been better had either Heartbreak won or Qewy got third. Anyway, thems the breaks.

Bank still building slowly.

Having a nibble on Takedown tomorrow, has to carry the weight but has a gap on these talent wise.

Finalising form but think we could have one to rival Oceanographer on Sat coming up on Stakes day.

That Webster article is a shocker. Disgraceful and uncalled for. Even has a dig at him for attending lol.

Good on Lloyd, does so much good for the industry and his generosity to his staff is well known.

If it isn't him winning it most years, would be Godolphin and Co. Know who leysy would rather.

same *smile* diff bucket. Super rich tycoon wins.

Can you tell me 3 half decent points out of that article Snake.

Cannot believe anyone can can be cool with it.

Comes across as a two but journo who drafted it up after a losing day on the punt along with a few too many beers.

Robbo wrote it ?

happens to the best of us, yeah its a scrappy article, but the central point, that 'its hard to get excited about someone worth $670 mill scratchin an itch' is my sentiments exactly.

Like I said, in order to have feel-good stories you need feel-bad stories, this is a classic of the genre

Fair enough, not sure what Nick Williams public speaking, Lloyd attending, wanky bars, Lloyd expressing his desire to win more cups, the trainer having a low profile and Lloyd's demeanour to the media (have never heard anyone give anything but praise around this) have anything to do with that point though.

Wasn't a scrappy article. It was petty rubbish.

Perhaps write about how Lloyd nursed the horse back from career threatening tendon if he wanted a different angle on the Cup.
