Thoroughbred racing

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I need to give my tips today as I won't be on line tomorrow or early Sat.
In the Sydney Cup I will have $5 each way Harris Tweed and if I'm still liquid after that, then all up Mic Mac in the All Aged Stakes - so that's Syd Race 6 No 5 and Syd Race & No 2.
BTW, my Navaho Trail is running in the 5th at Nowra tomorrow. He won over that course and distance last start and while the top weight is in form and there is a bit of hype about him, perhaps we have his measure.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Im certainly in RT, ill place my selections here by sat morning. So do we need to deposit any cash for this? Hoping I can continue some form from last week getting the randwick quaddie.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

I'll give you a tip for Flemington Monday.........Perturbo. I haven't looked up what price he is at the moment, but his last win over 1000m at Flemington was unbelievable. He messed up the start, was a clear last to the 200m, was taken out wide to find plenty of room and zoomed home like a junior Bernborough. 8)

Thank you but no you do not need to deposit cash - just post your selections on the Thoroughbred Thread by noon tomorrow or 1 hour before the first race if you are betting in that race.

Good luck to both you and Bernie - remember to be the Champion next week you have to get the $10 I punt on your bet back plus beat the dividends your opponent gets on the day.

Navaho Trail - you beauty - I got $6.03 for the $1 - if I could get a guaranteed 5/1 winner once a week I would not have to work.......Congratulations Bernie.....

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Ill go for $10 win on Hot Danish Syd race 7 #5. Not excatly going out on a limb i know but it looked impressive when i saw it at randwick 2 weeks ago. Good luck Bernie.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

The Sydney Cup is such an open field!!!

Will have money on Precedunce with Zavite, Harris Tweed and Booming to fight for the places.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Also had something on Harris Tweed as he put in a great Melbourne Cup run at ~80/1 and is a genuine two-miler. Didn't appreciate the slow early pace and pulled a bit, then didn't have enough zing at the finish.

Jessicabeel was as convincing a 3/4-length winner as you'd ever see though. Those Zabeels are hard to beat once they get out to the classic distance and beyond.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Yes they are, also once the blinkers go on. Amazing what that breed find when they go on.

Hadn't noticed the blinkers thing. If they've got a few tricks it probably comes from Sir Tristram, as Zabeel himself apparently has a great temperament.

About a decade ago, a magazine did an article on Zabeel's record (may have been Turf Monthly). It showed that his progeny would have returned a profit at starting prices if you'd backed all of them at every start - over any distance, and including meetings in the backblocks where bookies frame unbeatable markets. Have no idea whether that still holds, but considering they are generally expensive buys and are raced by prominent stables/wealthy owners, it was an incredible statistic.

Yep, super stiff to Blood. Followed the same form as you listed. Got beat by a nostril. But I would still follow this one. The $4 was very juicy for a horse with this much talent.

Trainer said after his last win that he's a difficult horse to ride - switches off when he gets to the front, so his run has to be timed just right. Melham got it spot on last time, Rose maybe misjudged a fraction.

PRE Punters Club

Well done to our two debutants - Azzamoot bounced out of the barriers with Hot Danish and collected $67.40 for his $10 which equals a $57.40 profit - way to go and you are the Champion this week.

Bernie got his 1st leg Harris Tweed up for a place and had $12 riding on Mic Mac for a place and it ran a very close 4th - bit stiff mate - but you will get another couple of goes this season - it is amazing how quickly it comes around.

Rosy - $57.40 remitted to PRE Bank Account this morning......RT

This Saturday 1 May 2010 the champion and challenger are -

Champion = Azzamoot
Challenger = B1

Azzamoot & B1 – could you please post or PM me to show that you are ok to be the punters this weekend?

Hey B1 you going to have to be at the top of your game because this Azzamoot is red-hot!

The list order of punters is

1. Bernie -
2. Azzamoot - return $67.40 - Champion Club House Leader
3. B1- Challenger
4. Tony Braxton-Hicks
5. Hartbalme
6. Blood_17
7. RedSeaTiger
8. Mk33
9. Happytige
10. Coughlan24
11. Crankster
12. Rolls Royce
13. Tiger44
14. Rosy23
15. Eastlavy
16. Streak
17. Tannerztigers
18. Tigergollywog
19. Bignige
20. Bringbackflemmo
21. Remote Tiger

The rules are simple -

1) Each punting day (usually Saturday) there is a challenger and a champion
2) Both the challenger and the champion have $10 to bet - either win or place or eachway and/or allup.

E.G. Either –
$10 win horse A, or
$10 place horse A, or
$5 win horse A and $5 win horse B, or
$5 win horse A and $5 place horse B, or
$5 place horse A and $5 place horse B, or
$5 eachway horse A, or
For those who wish to dare it is OK to have
$5 win horse A allup a win horse B, and $5 place horse A allup a place horse B, or
$5 win horse A and $5 place horse A allup a place horse B

3) If you collect more than the $10 outlay and more than your opponent on the day you become the champion next week.

4) Selections can be at any Saturday metropolitan meeting in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. (On weekends where there are Group races on the Monday or Sunday as well as or instead of the Saturday racing the PRE Punter(s) in the chair can forgo the Saturday racing and bet on the Monday or Sunday). Please post your selections on the thoroughbred thread by 11.00am on the day of the races so it gives me time to find them and put them on.

5) All profits on your bet (no matter how small) will be posted to Rosy's bank account to help with the admin costs of PRE

6) All bets are put on Remote Tigers Darwin Bookie IASbet.com hence there is no outlay by other members of the Punting Club.

7) A total of collects for each member will be maintained by Remote Tiger and the member with the largest total of collects by the last day of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival will be announced the PRE Punter of the year, 2010.

Good Punting…………RT

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Well done Azza. That must be the best we've got out of the starting stalls since the comp began. Good luck to both the champ and the challenger for next week.
