How much do we reckon we could scrape together for leysy's favourite yet heart breaking mare.

Passed on for $110,000 after not reaching his reserve of $130,000 at the Inglis sales

http://www.inglis.com.au/makeOffer/?sale=09EAY&lot=40

Might have to put a straight six on this weekend. ;D

Good bredding in name anyway Leysy, Starcraft was once a fav for Cox Plate, imagine horse would be bred to run good over 1600-2000m.
Cant recall any Starcraft horses of top of my head has had any success in the breeding barn.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Think this was his first crop to go through the sales MK.

Private Steer went to him & went for $450,000

He was a monster horse that was rated the worlds best miler after Luca Cumani took to him win two major Grp 1 races in Europe.

Interesting to see how he goes.

Need some help from punters in the know.

At work I'm pitching on a gig to help promote an online betting agency. Although I have dabbled a little in online punting (I have one account that I use say 4 times a year) - I'm no expert in the game.

I would really appreciate any feedback on your online punting habits. Things like;

How many online accounts do you have? Six or seven I think.
Are you happy with your current account, what could they do better? Rarely happy but not unhappy.
What would make you open another account? Better interface would help. Sportingbet, Centrebet and Paddy Power are all appalling. Betstar is the best as it's the quickest. (I'm often in countries with poor bandwidth).
Do all these $150 free bet offers make you want to? Nope.
What would stop you from opening another one? A wider variety of things to bet on, especially novelties.
Is it all just about the odds. No, good customer service is important too. I've had a battle for years with one agency over various things, usually them posting incorrect odds and me snaring them and then they cancel the bets. Very annoying. Betfair is probably the best because you can lay and the markets are quite wide however not always the best option especially when you want to have a serious go and something at long range. That's when I hit the others. Also keen to see whether Sportsbet, now part-owned by Paddy Power, adopt Paddy's pay early approach on big events where the result looks a foregone conclusion.

Any feedback appreciated.

Thanks in advance for your thoughts.

Rosy - I hope this OK but delete if you dont think its appropriate here ???

Starcraft's current History as a Sire has just begun (refer Arrowfield weblink http://www.arrowfield.com.au/stallions/starcraft/starcraft-salestats.asp). Looks like we might get to see his first crop of 2 year olds here in Australia this coming Spring.

He was a pretty fine horse http://horseform.racingandsports.com.au/viewHorse.asp?lan=&id=39D2E570177993D55E8D22

PRE PUNTERS CLUB

Rosy's Brazen Hussey missed a drum and Dyer'ere was AWOL

currently the punters club owes PRE-Admin $5.70 - will add this to winnings from this week then remit the total

Therefore this week we have a new Champion & a new Challenger.

Champion in the red corner - Blood 17
Challenger in the blue corner - Remote Tiger

AN old timers match if I ever saw one - Blood17 v RT......Get on the Blood.....

PRE PUNTER OF THE YEAR 2009

The 2009 rules are -

1) Each Saturday we will have two (2) tipsters - one will be considered the champion the other the challenger.

2) Both the Champion and the Challenger will have $10 each to bet with and are allowed only 1 or 2 horses each Saturday to bet on eg. $10 Win on a horse or $10 Place on a horse or $5 win on 2 horses or $5 place on 2 horses or $5 x $5 on 1 horse;

3) Should your total collect be more than the total collect of your tipster opponent on the day you become the champion and you will be challenged the following Saturday by the next tipster on the list. Should both the Champion and the Challenger not gain a collect the next 2 tipsters on the list will become the champion and challenger for the following Saturday. (with the tipster who is the next in order becoming the champion and the challenger being the tipster next after him/her)

4) Selections can be at any Saturday metropolitan meeting in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane or Adelaide. (On weekends where there are Group races on the Monday or Sunday as well as or instead of the Saturday racing the PRE Punters in the chair can forgo the Saturday racing and bet on the Monday or Sunday). Please post your selections on this thread by 11.00am on the day of the races so it gives me time to find them and put them on.

5) All profits on your $10 bet (no matter how small) will be posted to Rosy's bank account to help with the admin costs of PRE

6) All bets are put on Remote Tigers Darwin Bookie IASbet.com hence there is no outlay by other members of the Punting Club.

7) A total of collects for each member will be maintained by Remote Tiger and the member with the largest total of collects by the last day of the Melbourne Spring Racing Carnival will be announced the PRE Punter of the year, 2009.

The order of betting for 2009 is -

1. Blood17 - return 0 - Champion
2. mk33 - return 0
3. Red Sea Tiger - return 0
4. jb03 - return 0
5. Tiger44 - Return $27.40
6. Scottyturnerscurse - return 0
7. the claw - return 0
8. Hartbalm - return 0
9. Leysy Days - return 0
10. jimbler - return 0
11. Rosy - return $15.57
12. Dyer'ere - no bet
13. Remote Tiger - Challenger

Due to two tipsters betting each weekend (Champion and Challenger) we all should get more than two turns at tipping during the winter footy season and spring racing carnival.

IASbet.com provides for - a Superprice dividend guaranteed to be better than 2 of the three TABs and is generally better than all three or a fixed price or in some races Top Fluctuations. When you put your tips on PRE please advise which of the 3 betting types above you want (Superprice or Fixed Price or Top Fluctuation) Please note if betting for a place Superprice is the only option available. IT MAYBE THE DIFFERENCE IN YOU BECOMING NEXT WEEKS CHAMPION.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Some very strong mail about Gerald Ryan's 2yo Hus Der Lieften on Saturday. Will run favourite but blessed with ability, apparently.

At last the much awaited battle of the big guns. I hear they're trained to perfection and expect them to be neck and neck down the straight. Dead heat in a photo finish. Good luck fellas. :)

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

PRE Punters Club - bets are on

Blood_17 has Melbourne Race 3 Number 1 Red Pixie $10win
Remote Tiger has Brisbane Race 7 Number 8 Ortensia $10win

Nice work scotty, nice odds. Well done !

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Bad luck Blood. Great effort Remote, well done.

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

PRE PUNTERS CLUB

A third and a fall in winner - not bad for a couple of old blokes - At the turn I thought how far Red Pixie as the horse was crusing - in the straight it took a while to get reved up and by then the bird had flown. Thought Ortensia just fell in - class got her home - she did not stretch right out in the going.......

$5.70 (Rosy 3 weeks ago) + $12.40 (Ortensia) = $18.10 remitted today

Therefore this week we have a carryover Champion & a new Challenger.

Champion in the red corner - Remote Tiger
Challenger in the blue corner - mk33

Carn mk I'll have ya............(gee its easy to be tough on the internet - hey?)

Ortensia top run from too far back. What a filly !
Larry came too early :p (thought we had it shot when he kicked 4 lengths ahead in the straight)

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

Reading your comments it's probably a good think Ocean Dream didn't win Remote. :hihi

Re: Thoroughbred Horse Racing [Merged]

PRE PUNTERS CLUB

Ocean Dream stormed home from way back into 5th after the leaders had stolen a march and soiled well he ran like he had soiled his nappy.

Therefore this week we have a a new Champion & a new Challenger.

Champion in the red corner - Red Sea Tiger
Challenger in the blue corner - jb03

Both of these guys will be looking to open their accounts for the year - so we should get a couple of collects this week......Red Sea Tiger has been warming up with a couple of good "out-of-chair" selections......Plus it is time jb03 shoved a bit back at Redford
