Thomson Dow

Looks slow when chasing an opponent imo
But adds value in the contest - holding his place atm easily. Looks like he needs to bulk up lest some of the centre monsters snap him in half but is doing ok in the guts which is the weakest area of the ground for RFC.

When he gets injured and needs a rest which he will as a young lightly framed player - sadly we don't seem to have anyone better to replace him, who do we bring in? Ross? RCD? Not obvious is it - and that is RFCs Achilles heel. Lets not talk about Prestia or Cotch being injured and Baker is great but is he really a midfielder?

Looks taller than 183cm
Maybe he’s put on a few cm since in last few months

Geeez he’s quick , not quite Boltonesque agility but bloody good, he’s a lock going forward as a replacement for one of the Dynasty mids
I don't necessarily think Dow is super quick??, he does have amazing lateral movement and agility and quick hands & feet almost dancing in and out of traffic.
As for straight line speed in the 20m sprint he recorded 3.06 sec, which is about average for a midfielder of his size but not elite which is below 3.
Have to admit that unless you use it on game day it can mean very little, for example Jack Ross clocked 2.95 sec but i have seen no sign of it on game day.

Stays in the team even with Lambert and possibly Martin coming back. Would rather Edwards or Graham get dropped before Dow

Love to see how he goes against the dees midfield - I thought he looked at home on Saturday against the vaunted deep bating high skilled midfield of the doggies.

And what, he has played all of around 10 games now - let’s see how he tracks with another 40 under his belt.

Very good on the inside so far this season. Good hands to get the ball out of the contest.

Like the way he’s tracking. Hopefully he turns into the inside beast that I think we need.

Depends on how fast the player you are chasing is running. Cant all be Picketts Saad types.

Agree. Put Prestia in cotton wool for a couple of weeks. get him cherry ripe again.
Would really like to see Dow get a solid block of games. Could do some wonders for hjis confidence and it could also feed into sustained improved performances.
Well said after r1

Building nicely. Very much like Edwards in that his game revolves around clean hands in a contest, pivoting and sidestepping and finding angles to dish off to team mates. Also like Edwards in his early days, his kicking needs improvement.

Definite grain of salt with any of those times , all different preparations and most importantly there’s no football involved

Yep, I’ve said this before, why do they test kids on non football related tests? Why test a player on a 20m sprint without a ball in his hand? Make it a 20m sprint with ball in hand and having to bounce it once and with someone chasing him.
